Reporting to the VP of HR (Vancouver), the HR Advisor will provide support to the Human Resources Department in addition to providing advisory front-line support to the designated CBV teams located nationally. This role will assist in ensuring the HR and Operational objectives are delivered.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the HR Advisor include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Retention:
Conduct exit interviews with employees leaving CBV.
Reviewing all probationary and annual employee evaluations submitted to ensure that all required signatures are present. Forward wage increases to payroll for update.
Track and advise Managers of upcoming reviews.
Monitor employee attendance and advise managers of any potential problems
Employee Relations/Performance Management:
Advise and provide consultation to the Management team in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Calgary Offices regarding progressive discipline process including assistance with the drafting of disciplinary documents and documentation to ensure fairness and consistency within all offices.
Counsel employees on how to resolve issues with fellow employees and members of the management team.
On going daily coaching with Managers and Employees.
Coordinate Employee Appreciate Events
Review and advise on disciplinary actions.
Advise Managers on day to day personnel management decisions.
Review and process termination requests and letters.
Sit in on all written, suspension and termination meetings.
Respond to Ministry requests in regards to employee exits.
Harassment and Discrimination/Employee Complaints & Disputes:
Functions as the Internal Complaints Advisor (Harassment, Discrimination and other formal internal complaints) for the Western Region.
Employment Standard Act/Legislative Compliance:
Ensure HR compliance to ESA and Other Government bodies in all HR and CBV practices.
Guide and advise Supervisors and Managers on any legislative regulations that they need to be aware of prior to making operational changes (ie. Rest periods, Sunday shifts, hours worked, etc.)
Review current legislation to ensure that each office is compliant and up to date.
Benefits & Disability Administration:
Liaising with Benefits providers.
Primary liaison on all on going claims for the Western Offices.
Main contact person for Employee Assistance Program
Communicate with the rest of the HR Department regarding employee disability updates.
Oversee all Benefits paperwork including Benefit enrolment forms and Change forms.
Distribute Benefits Cards as them come in and explain our Benefits program with employees.
Oversee and track GRRSP program for the West including enrollment and program endorsement.
Assists in coordinating CBV’s Disability Management Program
Health & Safety:
Main contact person for the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and is also responsible for ensuring that CBV is in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Try to meet the legal requirements for offices regarding First Aid in the workplace.
Maintain and coordinate the Fire & Safety Procedures.
Administration of WorkSafe claims and timely reporting for Western Offices (as required).
Member of the Social Committee. Assist with any social committee events that are being held.
Prepare position change letters, part time transfer letters for employees
First-line response to basic HR related inquiries
Order and maintain supplies HR
Maintain HR Dashboard providing ongoing reports to Director
Scheduling and coordinating meetings as required.
Coordinate events such as dress down days, Breast Cancer Awareness, Krispy Kreme Days
Coordinate employee parking pass program (as applicable)
Process incoming and outgoing HR mail for branches.
Health & Wellness Program – maintain and work to keep program active and up to date
Ensure HR presence by communicating daily via phone and email to Divisional Managers and Branch Managers in respective branches
Coordinate Employee Appreciate Events.
Other duties as assigned.
This position does not supervise any other position.
The HR Advisor reports directly to the VP of Human Resources. This position requires daily contact with employees across all offices and all levels of leadership within the respective Branches. The HR Advisor will liaise frequently with the Payroll Manager, HR Advisors, HR Director, EVP in addition to the Divisional Leaders and Recruiters/Trainers.

Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience in a HR Advisor/Supervisor/Generalist role
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and
Intermediate experience working with a HRIS system
Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Ability to work both independently within a team environment
High level of integrity and maturity
