This is a six month Contract Position (Ending June 21st 2013).

As the Business Analyst, Travel and Retail Services, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing and reporting on new or existing metrics that will assist the Travel and Retail Services management team in better understanding how the business is currently operating, as well as optimizing how the business should operate in the future. This will include analyses that will drive insight at the market, product, channel and member/customer levels in order to highlight opportunities for incremental revenue generation, cost reduction or retention improvements. You will also be responsible for collecting and synthesizing market research data in order to assist the product development and customer strategy processes. Also, you will work closely with a number of cross-functional partners such as IT, Marketing and Finance in providing Travel and Retail Services subject matter expertise on projects such as the Enterprise Data Warehouse. of planning, directing and execution of the product development process, including: gathering and prioritizing prospect and member requirements, refining or enhancing the current product set, launching new products if necessary, and working closely with Travel and Retail Services management and other stakeholders to ensure CAASCO’s overall strategy of growth, profitability and customer satisfaction goals are met.
The Business (and Data) Analyst, Travel and Retail Services is expected to:
1. Develop a thorough understanding of business goals and issues in Travel and Retail Services, interpret business needs into data and analytical requirements, and then to analytical solutions.
2. Understand the information needs of all areas of Travel and Retail Services in order to build requirements, design measures, and formulate adequate metrics for key business drivers
Execution of adhoc product/market/customer analyses that drive member insight and highlight opportunities for incremental revenue generation, cost reduction or retention improvement.
Lead development of Travel and Retail Services business requirements in support of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) strategic project
Responsible for synthesizing market research data and findings in order to assist the product development and customer strategy processes. This would also involve executive summaries and management presentations to impart knowledge gained and articulate recommendations.
Create trend analyses and forecast reports to generate insights about variances between actual and planned results and, where appropriate, provide recommendations on how to improve those variances.
In conjunction with the Travel and Retail Services Controller, assist in the development of the yearly business plan as well as ongoing forecasting of year-end results.
This position doesn't require heavy programming or Statistical Analysis. It does require thinking on the feet and making sense of the data and helping the business steer in the right direction.
Required experience and knowledge
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with SAS 9.2 /9.3 , SQL server 2005/ 2008. SAS Certification would be an asset.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or Information Technology related field
Ability to Communicate results
Ability to think both strategically (at a business unit, campaign or enterprise level) as well as analytically, with a strong attention to detail
Experience working with a variety of databases and experience learning customized software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Travel industry and/or Retail Industry experience an asset
Business Analytics, Revenue Generation /Optimisation.
