Sales Manager Expectations (include but are not limited to: )
The Sales manager ensures the profitability of his department by driving the selling of vehicles, maintaining the gross required, controlling expenses and maintaining total customer satisfaction.
Duties of the Sales manager include planning, motivating, marketing and coordinating the department through leadership and solid business practices.
As with all positions within dealerships, Sales managers are expected to uphold the Dealerships Policies and Procedures, and have the highest ethical standards.
Job duties for a Sales Manger include:
Hiring, performance evaluations regularly and developing short and long-term goals for each salesperson.
Maintain vehicle inventory and days’ supply.
Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Company’s Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and vendors
Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to Dealer for approval.
Working closely with our BDC on attaining one apt a day for all sales people plus three per each salesperson on Saturdays.
Effectively communicating with the comptroller on a weekly basis to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.
Paying close attention to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary.
Reynolds and Reynolds Experience a big asset
Maintain a 60 day supply of New and/or Used vehicles
Explaining the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followed daily.
Providing dealership management and Dealer with weekly reports on the financial condition of the department.
Overseeing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete, accurate and submitted on time to the management and Dealer.
Coordinating with the business/administrative office to ensure that records and analyses are correctly maintained.
Creating a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel and maintaining these relationships.
Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure their profitability and efficiency.
Overseeing the hiring and training of all department managers.
Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.
Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees.
Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.
Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.
Sales Managers should have at least 3 years of dealership sales and at least five years in Management.
They must have strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to understand profit and loss statements and manage people and their expected activities.
Sales Managers also must possess strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors.
Managers are required to stay abreast of the federal, provincial, and local regulations affecting their operations and comply with them, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know regulations. Also they must provide the necessary training on regulations and ethical practices.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required and a college degree in business administration and/ or NADA’s Dealer Academy, Northwood, or Georgian College is preferred.
Dealer Socket Solutions or another CRM Application an asset.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
A desire to work in a commission, performance-based, environment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver license in the province that you will work and a good driving record.
Great attitude with high-energy personality
Professional appearance and work ethic.
Be able to be licensed with the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC)
