Fun, friendly and productive work environment
Cashier (Former Employee), Strathroy, ON – June 5, 2012
Pros: free dinners on overnight shifts.
Cons: no free breakfast when you work the morning shift.
A typical day at work would include a lot of cleaning, food prep and joking around among staff and sometimes with customers if they start that type of a mood. I learned to open myself up at work and let other people into my life and let myself make friends. It was not only a workplace for me but a place to have fun with friends while serving customers. – more... I think the customers appreciated the light mood when they came in and they always got their food quickly so they were kept happy and usually left in a better mood than they came in. The hardest part of the job was perhaps reading the schedule, or serving tour buses of people whose language I didn't speak. The most enjoyable part of the job was definitely working with my coworkers as they became very good friends of mine. – less

Great Employer
Restaurant General Manager (Former Employee), Kitchener, ON – May 8, 2012
Pros: great bonus programs
Cons: long hours
Burger King was a great place to work. Offered good incentives.I loved dealing with the guests, and the staff. It became difficult to
hire mangement that would be reliable, long term. Therefore it meant
50-60 hours a week, with little or no support. Company was not competitive within the food industry, and potential candidates
would seek employment – more... elsewhere. – less

TEAM MEMBER (Former Employee), Waterloo, ON – April 13, 2012
Pros: discount on lunch.
Cons: didn't get enough hours.
A typical day consists of making product and serving customers. I learned many essential transferable skills and have listed them in my resume. My manager did not give me the hours I requested so that was disappointing. He was how ever friendly and I learn a lot working with him. My co-workers quickly became my friends so it was very easy to work alongside – more... them. The hardest part of this job was ignoring the poor sportsmanship of a few of my employees. The most enjoyable part was being praised by my supervisor for working fast and efficiently. – less

A very annoying and slightly aggravating environment.
Employee (Former Employee), Madison, NJ – June 17, 2013
The day to day work itself wasn't that horrible. It was the employes that were the real nascence. Some times during the down time I would find one or two of them smoking in the office even though it really hurt my lungs. Sometimes before I learned how to use the cash register, a fellow employe would call me over and ask me to handle the front cash register – more... while he went to handle something else. Also every now and then when one of my fellow employes would ask for something they would ask me in Spanish even though I didn't speak any Spanish. I would tell them this but they would only repeat what they said or something slightly different in Spanish again. – less

Pros: 70p per hour worked for meal allowence.
One out of 4 managers only take the place serious, another manager leaves the staff to run the shop why he goes out for a smoke or a phone call every half an hour.
