Extremely fun atmosphere
Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee), Burnaby, BC – May 16, 2013
Pros: fun, family feel
Cons: you need lots of energy to keep up with the children
You get to have fun and "Play" with purpose all day. You learn to have fun while still doing your job without feeling like it's "Work"

Energetic Workplace
Sales Associate (Former Employee), London, ON – April 27, 2013
This retail environment requires high energy employees who can engage with young children to older adults. Willingness to be unconventional is a must, as well as a passion for selling.

Wonderful and extreamly enjoyable work environment
Master Bear Builder (Current Employee), square one – February 7, 2013
There is a wonderful training program in place. The co-workers are friendly and always make the workday activities as enjoyable as possible. You can tell the build a bear cares about the people who work for them, and in return they get happy and dedicated workers.

Super Fun Work Place!
Sales Associate (Former Employee), West Edmonton – May 3, 2012
Pros: great staff
Cons: not enough hours
If your a full time student looking to have a job that will bend around your school hours and exam times than look no further! Build a Bear is a great place to work with all of the happy and friendly co-workers! I mean that everyone that works there is friends! So if your looking for a great part time job and love children and have lots of energy than – more... look no further this is the place for you!

A typical day at work is : min 3.5hours all the way up to 8 hours depending and the amount of energy that you show on floor. YOu switch stations a lot so that no one gets boatd and everyone interacts with the guests to develop a picuture in their minds of the store to make them want to come back. You usually get your brake at the 3 hour mark so that your do not burn out by going on a brake to early.

The Best part of the job: The people that not only work there but the guests and the children !

The hardest part of the job: doing at 80 kids party and having the daycare staff not telling us! But don't worry we can still handled it – less

Variable fast pace, work with puplic and children, good staff
Associate Manager (Former Employee), Lithonia, Georgia – May 14, 2013
Pros: working with children, variable pace, great staff
Cons: balancing coworkers and customers
A typical day at work on a Saturday is a constant flow of traffic, parties, children and their parents and customer service. I learned many things at Build-A-Bear Workshop; such as how to make schedules, handling POS issues in a timely and correct manner, how to open and close the store, opening and closing procedures, register and money management, – more... returns, hands on and personalized customer service for each individual customer, monthly tasks, forecasting, stocking methods, repairs, and floor and team leadership skills. My coworkers were excellent in this particular work environment. They were very experienced, knowledgeable, hands on, good with children, fast working, friendly, and responsive. I had excellent coworkers in this environment. The hardest part of my job was keeping up with the heavy flow of demand from my customers, and balancing control of my team and the floor during the chaos of busier days. The most enjoyable part of this job was definitely the high levels of customer and employee interactions. I love working with the general public, but I excel with animals and children, and with this job, I was able to work with children throughout my shift. – less

Excellent
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Flower Mound, TX – April 9, 2013
Pros: kids, fun environment, 15 or 30 min breaks, great management, not stressful, dream job
Cons: none to be honest
We greet guests and tell them how the bear building process works, then proceed to take them through it. I personally like to make sure each guest is happy and has fun at the workshop. I try making a personal connection with each child or adult by finding a common interest or compliment them about what bear they have chosen.

Stuffing bears, Greeting, – more... Stocking, Up at Register, Cleaning the store, Register are some of the jobs we do at the workshop.
I love it :) – less

Fun job but very stressful at times
Assistant Manager and Part-time associate (Former Employee), Coralville, IA – March 20, 2013
Working at BABW was fun and stressful all at the same time. You got to be around kids and even adults on their birthdays and help them celebrate. You got to encourage kids to be as loud as they wanted to in the store. You also go to encourage those same loud kids to be creative and show their imaginations. Stress was when the line for the stuffer was – more... LONG. When you had a party taking longer than normal and another two parties that were going to start. The day before Valentine's was my favorite day...teasing the men who waited until the last minute to buy their girl a bear. :) – less

Cons: company growing
I was employeed as the Merchandising Coordinator and then given the task of running the warehouse. I self taught myself how to manage certain aspects of the position which i feel very confirdent about, as it was the first time in Retail.

I have great co-workers who all pull together when deadlines need to be meet.

Fun and energetic workplace!
Associate Manager (Current Employee), Canton, OH – March 4, 2013
Pros: great atmosphere, working with kids and adults, awesome benifits
A place where you get to make guests' days by helping them make their perfect animal. Great co-workers who are enthusiastic and fun to be around, and who are willing to help out each other. You learn a lot about team work and how to work with guests to make their experience an awesome one.
