Buffalo David Bitton, a major Montreal-based private company, is currently seeking new talent to join his team! We are currently looking for a Men's Fashion Buyer:

He/she will be responsible for the development and follow-up on production of the Men’s Buffalo collection and will exercise certain functions allowing stores to meet their sales and profit margin objectives.

Responsibilities:
Production of tendencies before each buying period based on the proposed calendar.
Determine direction based on tendencies, sales and the needs of the stores given by the specific demands of the Buyer.
Select interesting styles from the main line for the retail stores.
Determine and develop promo styles and others in order to complete the line (private programs).
Meet local suppliers, develop style and negotiate price, delivery and terms.
See to the elaboration and follow-up of local and overseas production with the Assistant Buyer.
Ensure proper communication with all local and overseas suppliers.
Conduct a regular follow-up regarding all products in store in order to ensure that profitability objectives are attainted and propose transfers, consolidation, mark-downs and pertinent assortments.
Have a keen sense of understanding of the needs of the stores concerning buying keeping in mind the market factors, size scales of clientele and the distribution of merchandise across the board.
Execute the directives that will be given and the decision taken during meetings.
Develop and elaborate private programs for the stores.
Visit the stores and the competition regularly.
Follow up on budgets.
Style follow-up (delivery delays, short ship, shipping advice).
Confirm and negotiate prices for private programs.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in buying in the fashion industry is a must
  • Experience in the retail industry is necessary
  • Strong fashion sense, avant-garde attitude, fashion awareness, creativity and ability to search for new trends
  • Strong financial & negotiating skills
  • A familiarity with merchandising systems and Microsoft Excel
  • A strong team player
  • Candidate must be bilingual
  • Must be able to work under pressure with short deadlines
