The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) is an unaccredited employers association currently consisting of sixty-eight member companies which consists of ship owners, bulk operators, stevedores, general cargo and containers.
Our workplace profile consists of approximately 5100 unionized and casual longshore workers along with 435 foremen in Vancouver, New Westminster, Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert who are represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Ship and Dock Foremen.
The BCMEA Information Services department develops and maintains information systems that facilitate labour requirement gathering and dispatch of longshore workforce to sites. Additionally, the Information Services department develops and maintains a comprehensive HRIS suite of applications designed to manage work-related personnel, discipline, occupational training & safety and labour relations information.
The BCMEA is recruiting for a senior .NET Developer to join our team. Reporting to the programming supervisor, you will be joining the team to upgrade, and develop new features and enhancements to our dispatch and HR systems.
You will be responsible for designing and development within the middle-tier and front-end components. Your knowledge and understanding of object oriented design patterns and component development for middle-tier services is very strong. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required due to the strong team environment and necessity in regular client communication.
Critical to this position is developing web applications and web services using Microsoft .Net Web Technologies and Microsoft Database Technologies, therefore candidates must possess at least 5 years experience in this field. Experience working with Microsoft MVC Framework and Visual Studio 2010 and extensive knowledge of ASP.NET, C#, HTML, CSS, JS, JQUERY, JSON, WCF, XML, XSLT, AJAX and a working knowledge of HTTP, SOAP and IIS is required..
The position requires a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate should be capable of working independently.
