Haven’s Way provides a home for young women between the ages of 12- 24 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. A safe place to live while they continue their education and acquire life skills required for self-sufficiency.


The Supportive roommate is responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for the young women living at Havens Way. Further, the role of the Supportive Roommate is to assist the youth during their journey towards self sufficiency. The Supportive Roommate will be responsible for acting as a role model while living with the girls and supporting them in their daily living. They will assist youth in setting and reaching their goals. The Supportive Roommate will be an advocate for the youth, as well as assisting youth in remaining safe and practicing their independent living skills. This role also ensures that the youth is connected to community resources and healthy activities within their own community so when they transition they can maintain those relations. This Position requires residing at the program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Holding weekly house meetings
  • Assisting youth with household chores
  • Supporting youth in crisis situations
  • Checking in with youth on a daily basis
  • Safety planning with youth


  • Class 4 driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is required.
  • Criminal check with vulnerable sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check

This is a contracted position with Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary. The position offers a room with attached ensuit in the home. The successful candidate will not be required to pay rent or utilities.
