AVENUE 15

Avenue 15 provides homeless and runaway youth between the ages of 13-17 with temporary shelter and basic needs, as well as a comprehensive support system to assist them in reuniting with their families or finding alternative living arrangements.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Senior Youth Worker and Program Coordinators of Avenue 15, the Aboriginal Youth Worker position provides twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week program coverage and is responsible for the primary care and safety of youth in the program. The Aboriginal Youth Worker is responsible for planning and implementing creative culturally relevant programs and opportunities for youth in the program. The Aboriginal Youth Worker will ensure that the program and services provided are relevant to the needs of the clients and that all shelter components are effectively integrated with other BGCC programs and are consistent with the mission, values, vision, and business plan of the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in a related human services or social services field
  • Current certification for First Aid and CPR Flexibility to work in the evenings, overnights, and weekends
  • A cleared Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and a cleared Intervention Record Check
