Position: Rogers Raising the Grade Mentor
Reports to: Education Manager
Hours of Volunteer Work: 1 evening a week, 1 school term commitment (Sept–June)
Basic Qualifications: Has some experience or training with youth ages 12-18. Must have a basic knowledge of computer and/or technology skills. A Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Search will be required.
Rogers Raising the Grade is an interactive after-school program that allows youth to explore interests, receive homework support, connect with mentors/tutors, interact with peers, and increase their digital literacy and plan for post-secondary education. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for working with youth and also enjoy using innovative technology. Mentors would work with assigned youth on a weekly basis which would include one-on-one check-in meetings, guiding the youth through the activities on the website, helping youth set and encourage them to reach their goals, assisting to develop their e-portfolio and personal development plan and planning for post-secondary education. The mentors would also provide homework and academic support when needed.
