Wind Turbine Technician Foreman (Former Employee) – Forest, ON – 24 May 2017
Great company depending what project you are on. Some management don't know what they are doing and also have favorites. At the end of projects, all of management's buddies get laid off Last even if they aren't very good workers. It's all politics.
Laborer/Foreman (Former Employee) – Abbotsford, BC – 13 May 2016
Follow all safety and job requirements. Meet deadlines. Learned tons about earthworks and went on to be foreman of a crew. Management good all considering there was a pretty big language barrier. The hardest part of the job probably being the fact there is not much time to have a life when a project starts. The most enjoyable part of the job being outdoors, enjoying the sunshine, seeing gorgeous sunrises and yes sometimes sunsets. Mostly not having to be stuck in one spot and punching a time clock!
Decent Work, if you are willing to not have a life. Management acts more like high school kids then actual employers/ supervisors, treating friends better then other works even if they are on par with other workers/foreman. Strongly recommend to just be a labourer and just work on a crew. Stay away from direct contact with management
Safety (Former Employee) – Ontario – 25 August 2015
Am very happy to be done! No time off, called back to work early from any time off. Very young inexperienced management team. Safety entirely a paper based culture. Completely unorganized organization. Very much a favoritism attitude. Workers work very hard and do a great job but there is never any positive reinforcement
Civil Superintendent (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 28 December 2014
This was a very fast pace job loved it. I learned that not every one likes wind mill construction Young management team learning Great co-workers Dealing with land owners Making the land owners happy and getting along with everyone
Foreman (Current Employee) – The Zoo – 14 August 2014
I currently work for Borea but hopefully not for much longer. Safety is not even part of managements plan, every week there is a payment issue with someone in my crew. Safety & inspection documents have been constantly forged. Zero training is provided for new employees. Most of the Superintendents working on the six pack have only 1 or 2 projects experience if you are lucky. I don't understand how this company hasn't been nailed to the wall by MOL, it's only a matter of time I guess.
Pay is ok
Extremely inexperienced management on the wind projects
