Events Manager (1-3 year contract)

Working within a globally renowned technology company, you will report in to the Senior Event Manager, and will execute strategic B2B events for this company across all business groups and cross-functional teams at a national level.

Nature of Assignment: 1 year to begin. Renewal option every year for a max. of 3 years.
Hours: 9-5pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required for event execution. There may be a time when extra hours will be required but lieu time will provide balance.
Travel: 25%-30% Travel Required (vehicle required)
Certification: CPM Certified candidates will be given strong consideration

The event manager will work in depth with the marketing community and vendors of records (VOR) to evaluate and execute on industry and sponsored events, and executive events. Audiences include large technical audiences, mid-tier and small intimate events, partners companies, technical analysts, and executive audiences. The Event Manager will work directly with the organization's marketers and agency as an ?adjunct? member of the Sales Team to achieve strategic account goals and to develop relationships.

The Event Manager facilitates participation in industry events. Researches the target audience, recommends specific events to reach that audience and evaluates the effectiveness of participation. Works directly with show management, negotiating sponsorships or special programs and evaluating costs. Responsible for overseeing event logistics, injecting innovation and managing execution based on design model approved by business group. Include budgeting responsibilities along with directing work teams.

High level responsibilities:

- Create event plans, project scope, and schedules to ensure all event logistics are properly budgeted, estimated, and scheduled.

- Coordinate logistical elements of all events including venue and vendor management, AV, decor, catering, security, transportation, travel logistics, evening events, signage, shipping and temp staffing.

- Deliver initiatives that are critical to senior level executive teams.

- Provide strategic recommendations to cross-functional business groups to support all events, including working with social and PR strategy

- Consistently drive digital engagement and digital innovation to all aspects of the event engagement

Day to day tasks:

- Work closely with large Communications & Marketing Organization team including Data, Integrated Marketing Communicator, PR, social, digital event lead and event stakeholders

- Manage communication updates to event stakeholders on process change and policy updates

- Manage triage of all marketers event requests providing thought leadership as the on-site event expert and process management with Campaign Desk

- Solely manage all Tier 1 events including, but not limited to, Product Launches, executive engagements (including annual programs such as major annual Conference) and national tours over 5 cities.

Culture of team:
Independent team, but everyone held to high standards and accountability. The team tends to be tight-knit despite working on separate projects.

Qualifications:
- 4-5 years work related experience required.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Public relations experience ideal and event marketing experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.

Must have skills:

- Strong familiarity with the digital space (ie: webcasts, social integration, blogging, etc) and knowledge of how to demonstrate the value of the online environment to internal stakeholders

- 3+ years in a similar event management role with experience in a variety of event types (trade shows, conferences, seminars, client engagement).

- Ability to take initiative be proactive, and work independently with little supervision.

- Proven success delivering project management skills, including planning, prioritizing, setting timelines, managing a virtual team and driving the delivery of work on multiple efforts concurrently, while considering the strategy for the next year?s event.

- Demonstrated track record of managing, supporting, and executing successful events and communication plans.

- Develop event recommendation proposals, innovation plans, project scope, and schedules to ensure all event logistics are properly budgeted, estimated, and scheduled.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with executives, senior management, vendors, customers and peers. Conviction and courage to drive decisions and defend positions as appropriate

- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a keen attention to detail.

- Minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate environment.

Nice to have skills:

- Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team.

- Creative, positive energy and an ability to execute all levels of events.

- Willing and able to travel for site inspections and onsite event production

- 3+ years in a similar event management role with experience in a variety of event types (trade shows, conferences, seminars, client engagement).

Educational and Industry Background:

- CMP preferred, other event designation may be considered

- Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, or similar discipline
