Job Summary:
The staff nurse provides professional nursing care using the nursing process, contributes to the nursing unit team, and performs other related duties to assist in the provision of quality care.
-Active Alberta registration as a Registered Nurse
-Diploma from a recognized school of Nursing or B.Sc.N
-Completion of an Oncology program preferred
-Must be certified by AHS Cancer Care to administer chemo therapy or willing to take offered training
-Minimum two years recent applicable nursing experience
-Thorough knowledge of Nursing process and be committed to delivery standards of care within scope of practice as outlined by CARNA and CANO
Ability To:
-Assess, plan, provide and evaluate the care of each assigned patient
-Function in a dynamic work environment
-Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and public
-Apply sound knowledge of approved and required clinical practices, as related to triage; assess and treat patients in the emergency department environment, under stressful and arduous working conditions
-Display consistent and effective verbal and written communication skills
-Be self directed and demonstrate initiative and insight
-Organize, coordinate and prioritize own work
-Apply sound judgment and critical thinking skills to make appropriate decisions
-Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
-Demonstrate a willingness to assume responsibility for maintaining her/his own competence and professional growth
-Physically perform duties of the position and operate related equipment
