A typical day of work insists of inputting invoices and accounts payable procedures. Journal entries, reconciliation, managing vendor accounts etc.

Big decisions made by few, made on cost versus technical merit and made after they are needed. Pace out performance process...creativity is squashed...do your tickets, lots of tickets in a timely expedited matter.

Cheap on technology...but you get free coffee all day/night long.

I am part of the team responsible for supporting and growing BlackRock's $55+ billion dollar separately managed account business. A typical day at work involves a range of activities - from discussing feasibility of new product ideas with senior management to negotiating contracts with institutional gatekeepers. I also coordinate product/platform training – more... for our internal sales team and new hires, collaborate with Marketing on sales initiatives, and work cross-functionally to complete special projects and ad hoc requests as needed.

My team is responsible for the outcome of SMA business initiatives without having control of the resources required to complete them - this is the most challenging aspect of the job. In my role, the ability to influence colleagues in other areas of the firm has been critical to success. I've learned to build consensus with a diverse base of internal stakeholders by using effective communication and relationship-building skills.

The people I work with are driven, highly intelligent, and pretty down-to-earth. Management demands excellence and holds employees to high standards. The scope of my role is so broad, and expertise so deep, that it is rewarding to reflect on how much I've leaned during my tenure here. • Collected signatures from Investment Committee members for legal sign-off of due diligence; converted signatures electronically for storage.

- Employees on the West Coast are disregarded and forgotten, despite almost outnumbering the East Coast headquarters.
- Over my tenure, the environment became increasingly aggressive, bordering on maniacal management became adept at throwing colleagues under buses and misleading employees about their future career support and opportunities for advancement.

BlackRock is definitely an industry leader with great products, but they have grown too much too fast. Management isn't able to keep up with the changing corporate culture and lacks direction and career development.

When I worked for Blackrock the pay was known as the golden handcuffs. You wanted to leave but were paid too well. That should sum it up well. Working at Blackrock was frustrating because I felt like there was no hope to advance.
