Operations Supervisor (Current Employee), Killeen, TX – January 28, 2014
Pros: ability to learn different areas of the business
Cons: having the feeling of being set in one position without advancement opportunities
Working with a prestige client is enjoyable. Client interactions are great and working with them and Blackboard provides an opportunity to learn more about educational services that brings colleges and universities into the world of modern technology at its best; as well as apply what I have learned in school. Managing my team was interesting with the – more... different cultures and personalities, but ended up being a great collaboration. – less
Lead QA Engineer (Current Employee), San Francisco – December 17, 2013
I love that I have an opportunity to work on multiple projects. My favorite part is working with PM, OPS and other teams on resolving difficult tickets and meeting deliverables. Every day brings me new knowledge and experience.
CSR (Former Employee), Somerset, KY – August 7, 2013
I only worked there for a short few weeks and that was long enough for me. The trainer I had was a wonderful person who provided my group with the materials made available to her however it in no way prepares you for working on the phones. After two short weeks of training I was thrown on the phones during rush season and had to deal with a supervisor – more... who didn't want to supervise. In all actuality she had no idea what she was doing and did not have the knowledge to be leading the department.
I had to listen to inappropriate discussions about sexual encounters for almost 6 straight hours one day and that was the end of my journey at Blackboard.
I am used to a professional work setting and Blackboard is anything but. I used Blackboard as a filler job after I was laid off and thankfully I have found a position in a professional work setting. I would recommend Blackboard as a temporary job but definitely not a permanent one! – less

A typical day at Blackboard is just getting to know families and it is great to be able to dicuss a product that you know is going to help these families with furthering education and making sure everyone is happy. I was able to learn how to operate phones , making outgoing and receiving incoming calls, I operated different office equipment , and took – more... notes as well as record calls through a ticketing system. – less
Excellent co-workers and management, and I enjoyed my job.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Somerset, KY – June 22, 2013
Pros: excellent management; good insurance
Cons: moving from department to department just within a couple of months.
I enjoyed working for Blackboard Inc. I was able to provide customer care to students' who called with questions regarding their financial aid, student account, as well as any general questions that they may have had about the college they were attending. My supervisors and management were excellent and willing to help in any way possible. Co-workers – more... were also willing to help with any questions that the CSR's had. I very much enjoyed the job and I what I enjoyed most was providing excellent care and service to students', in order to direct and inform them on the actions that they needed to take to resolve any issues that they were having. – less

Pros: free sodas and juice! great clients, great employees...
Great company in the very interesting world of ed tech. Clients are amazing to work with in this market. Talented, focused and fun group of individuals working here with lots of work flexibility and ownership. If you can make the grade and produce great work Blackboard is a great place to be.
Solutions Engineer (Current Employee), Washington, DC – May 9, 2013
Pros: bright group of co-workers, no micro management.
Cons: current turnover in sales force and management ranks.
Blackboard is in a transitional period under new management after being taken private. Thus, it is difficult to say how the past and future will differ.
A typical day might involve doing a product demonstration, reviewing and contributing to an RFP response, preparing for an upcoming demonstration or trade show duty. I work with sales reps, management – more... and marketing to prepare, refine, and deliver presentations and demonstrations that meet corporate marketing needs.
Co-workers tend to be very had working and intelligent. – less
Blackboard has an incredible brand, image and technology that has made a significant difference in the education space. IN the last several years as it has grown larger and taken private the internal culture has become more corporate and the management style more traditional. Blackboard still includes significant talent and the company has a lot of – more... positive things to offer but this is your standard mid-sized software company now; for better or for worse. – less
