Position Overview:

The Assistant Store Manager mentors other team members in the store by acting as a role model and demonstrating strong sales and operational skills. The Assistant Store Manager will support and lead the store in the absence of the Store Manager. The Assistant Store Manager, supported by the Store Manager is accountable to ensure all activities in the store are conducted in a way that is consistent with TELUS and Black’s policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model by demonstrating proficiency in sales, customer service, product knowledge and overall store operations
  • Ensure in-store presentation standards are maintained, including housekeeping and maintenance, merchandise in-stock and presentation, signing, maintenance of stock areas and washrooms
  • Achieve personal sales and wireless targets
  • Support other team members in achievement of targets by providing product and operational knowledge
  • Take primary accountability for the printing / lab operations in the store to ensure a high level of customer engagement on imaging products and services
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing positive and effective resolution to Customer and Team Members concerns
  • Ensure protection of company assets and resources by following policies, processes and procedures established including Health and Safety

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong wireless and technical skills (computer and phone)
  • Excellent time management skills

Required Experience and Education:

  • High school education required
  • Previous retail experience is an asset
  • Enthusiasm for wireless, photography and related products are required
