As one of Canada's longest-standing web publishers we are looking for a star intern to help our company a) refresh content on our independent national business magazine; b) research and publish new business stories while also c) assisting Biz-Zone with a variety of online content publishing tasks, including content conversion for our clients and social media community management. In addition to essential writing, copy editing and design/layout skills the ideal candidate will be familiar with HTML/CSS, SEO and will be fluent (written and spoken) in both English and French.
This is a paid 6 month internship, which can transition into full-time work for a successful candidate.
As a j-school grad you not only are a masterful copy editor and writer, but you can think strategically and understand how to rework existing web content into updated, relevant information for today's web audience. You know that literacy is no longer just about words and now includes the ability to connect to audiences through images, audio and social engagement. The ideal candidate has an education in both journalism school and another field, has a strong sense of visual design and understands how to merge text, images, audio and video in an online context. You will have at a minimum a basic knowledge of HTML/CSS, a toolkit that enables you to deliver high-impact stories in the online world. You will also have a good grasp of business fundamentals, which enables you to go beyond the simple story to reveal meaning for online readers. Fluency in English and French is a strong asset. An active interest in social media and online community building is an asset.
