Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines – Thorold & District has an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to coordinate the enrollment of adult volunteers.
POSITION: VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR— (Contract 37.5 hrs)
The Volunteer Development Coordinator will develop and implement effective strategies to recruit volunteers for all programs. The successful candidate will promote the volunteer programs to gain community support of programs and the Organization through presentations in our Community. This position reports directly to the Director of Services and the CEO.
This Position will have:
College or University degree in human services, health and education or in a related field.
Thorough knowledge and proficiency in working with adults, volunteer development, working with diverse cultures and partnership development
Specific training in understanding human growth and development, appropriate interpersonal skills, interview/assessment techniques, child safety training and volunteer program management.
Excellent oral presentation skills
Demonstrated experience in Case Management
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Access based programs
The position also requires:
A valid driver’s license and have their own vehicle
A satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance of at least $1,000,000
Satisfactory criminal reference check
Availability on some evenings and weekends.
