Decent workplace for college student but not much growth.
Front Desk Supervisor/ Event Coordinator (Former Employee), Sherman Oaks, CANovember 4, 2013
Pros: working with people.
Cons: salary, growth, benefits.
A typical day consisted of checking guests in and out of rooms. Handling guest affairs and coordinating large events or conferences. I learned a lot about dealing with people and making them happy in the most uncomfortable scenarios. The management team was good but could have been somewhat stronger and more driven. I got along well with co-workers – more... most of them were nice and easy to work with. The most enjoyable part of the job was making people happy when they were previously stressed. – less

A comfortable place to work
Housekeeper (Former Employee), Chester, CASeptember 22, 2013
1. A typical day was just cleaning each room you were assigned to clean.

2. There's not too much to learn. You cleaned the bathrooms and sleeping areas. Stocked items, vacuumed, changed sheets and made beds. Then on to the next until your list of rooms were cleaned in a timely manner.

3. Management was really great. Very understanding and they cared.

4. – more... The hardest part was cleaning the extremely dirty rooms, and you only had a certain amount of time to clean each room. If you were only assigned a few rooms, you could take a little bit extra time cleaning those filthy rooms, but not when you had 10+ rooms. And the Pet rooms were the hardest to clean.

The most enjoyable part was getting a tip from the occupants. I remember getting an unopened bottle of wine as a tip. – less

I began working at Best Western as a waitress in the hotel restaurant. I worked my way up to dining room manager. I enjoyed meeting new people and making them smile. It taught me management techniques that I was able to apply to later positions.
