Booking auxiliary rooms and coordinating memorable catered affairs is the primary focus of the position. Marketing the services to the community through networking at local events is required, along with promptly responding to inquiries about available rooms and catering options. A sales and catering coordinator must have excellent communications with the catering manager and chef.

Project coordination talents enable the coordinator to book rooms and events efficiently and without overlap. Negotiating skills are required to collaborate on terms of contracts. Advertising and promotion talents increase revenues.

Experience in hospitality industry sales and marketing is preferred. Some employers prefer a bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field. Knowledge of food preparation or catering is a plus.
