Too many layers of management. Cronyism is rampant at this company.

I loved it!
Executive Assistant / Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Amarillo, TXJune 22, 2014
Pros: everything
Cons: layoff
I worked with a wonderful group of people that made it a joy to go to work everyday .

I had opportunities to take rides on helicopters, meet people from all over the world and it was fun. I worked with the government in putting together reports for them, I learned some things in my short time there about the different aircrafts that Bell designed and – more... built. It was a fascinating place to work. I had great supervisors and co-workers.

Unfortunately in this industry - layoffs were always around the corner and my position was affected by it. So my career was cut short but it was one of my most favorite jobs. – less

Hard times
Engineer III (Current Employee), Hurst, TXJune 21, 2014
Pros: good work atmosphere and ability to work your own hours provided the job gets done.
Cons: recent layoffs and lack of advancement for engineer iii's.
I've definitely enjoyed my time at Bell Helicopter and would not be unhappy if I had the opportunity to further advance my career there. Nevertheless, Bell has fallen on hard times and unfortunately, had to lay off several good people. Myself and several of my co-workers have obvious concern for our jobs and opportunities of advancement.

Not a Bad Place to Work
Technical Trainer Specialist (Former Employee), Fort Worth TexasJune 13, 2014
A typical workday either involved teaching classes or developing/updating lessons. I learned a lot about composite materials and the manufacture and repair of those products. One of the biggest disappointments of working for Bell was the management. My manager needed to work on his management style and his people skills. My other coworkers were GREAT. – more... We all got along and worked well together. The most difficult part of the job was becoming familiar with new processes and products, but it was the most rewarding. I enjoyed meeting all of the employees from the different areas of the Bell family. – less

Engineer (Current Employee), Fort Worth, TXJune 12, 2014
Pros: it's a good paying job - decent benefits.
Cons: expect you to work too many hours
Too much work, too few people. Expect you to work long hours and weekends. No support, compassion, or understanding by leadership if you are not part of the in group.

Great products.
Director of Final Assembly & Flight Operations (Former Employee), Amarillo, TXJune 2, 2014
Pros: great pay and benefits.
Cons: bell/textron likes regime change.
Great place to work for the most part. Bell is prone to regime change at the top that is not always in the best interest of the company. Constant upper management (CEO/Sr.VP) changes always brings disruption.

worker (Current Employee), Fort Worth, TXApril 4, 2014
Pros: it's a paycheck
Cons: benifits are gone, jobs outsourced, low wages, many more
The Walmart of helicopter companies.
all I can say. Product quality is gone, Company is now run by bean counters and they have eviscerated the product. They no longer have control of parts, they're all drop shipped from vendors.
They want $10 hr workers, not highly skilled / compensated career minded people.
