A workday will involve overcoming challenges that require hard work and dedication. That work is noticed and there are many ways in which it is rewarded at Bechtel through praise and even rewards such as gift cards.

Electrical Engineer (Former Employee), Houston, TXOctober 24, 2013
Bechtel is one of the typical EPC companies in town, the good part of this company is the vacation they provide for every employee, total 4 weeks plus another week purchased PTO, and you can roll over up to 640 hours total which is awesome.

Hostile Work Enviroment
Senior Expeditor Specialist (Former Employee), Houston, TXOctober 17, 2013
Pros: health benefits offered through aetna such as wellness plan
Cons: no support for hostile enviroment.
I worked for this company for 5 months and was bullied by two employees and eventually the supervisor of the project.
I was set up to fail from the beginning on the way the expediting group was supervised.

What I learned I will go directly to HR the next time this behavior start.

Most of the co-workers was a pleasure to work with and very willing – more... to help me with training.

The hardest part of the job was going in everyday listening to the loud, over bearing expediting going on from one of the bullies. Constant hostility. – less

Productive, innovative people oriented place to work
Construction Superintendent (Current Employee), Moranbah, QLDOctober 15, 2013
Pros: incentive gifts
Cons: long hours, cut back in any overtime payments, regardless of hours worked
Was introduced to Bechtel through a mutual friend and was told it was family oriented I have found that to be right in some ways but in other ways it is not quite so family oriented.

However on the plus side they are well versed in running projects although I believe the one I am just coming off had its problems.

Overall a score of 8/10

Look Elsewhere!
HR Representative (Current Employee), Frederick, MDOctober 8, 2013
Pros: pay and team work
Cons: project and middle management
This company is not a positive and rewarding place to work from the HR view point. 95% of there customers hate the company. Overall the company is always looks for ways to nickel and dime there customers, this has caused a massive reduction in new work orders and job losses.

Project management will lie and bend the rules just so that they can show – more... a PR graph that makes there business model look good.

Most of the engineers want do do well, but the old boy network keeps the same bad people in power and the upper management is left with a crumbing white elephant of engineering reviews, documents and job performance that is riddled with errors. – less

(CM) Manager/Hardware Assessment Review (HAR) Lead (Former Employee), Huntsville, ALOctober 2, 2013
Pros: great work enviornment, benefits, co workers, work
Cons: moving to stay employed with bni
I would highly recommend Bechtel - they are very aggressive in pushing their employees to produce high quality work and move up in the ranks. Only drawback is the work/life balance - there is a lot of moving required if you want to stay with them for the long term.

Very good pay, not very good work life balance
Contracts Manager (Current Employee), Frederick MDSeptember 10, 2013
Pros: well known and respected company worldwide
Cons: if you aren't willing to relocate, you're not going anywhere, so to speak
Contract formation and development to support emerging needs on nuclear projects, invoice processing; development of change orders for existing contracts. Have learned thatyou have to treat people with the attention and respect that you expect- and that includes contractors. Most enjoyable part of work is sealing the contract, resolving problems. Least – more... enjoyable part is dealing with those who don't think the words in the contract matter and have no respect for the contractors. – less
