BCAA has refused to provide essential wage and bonus information for us to make proposals and they have criticized us for unreasonable wage demands at the same time. This is bargaining in bad faith and we will be making an application to the Labour board in on the matter. We learned on Tuesday in Mediation that they plan to eliminate the top step lump sum 1% for employees in spite of their contention in the last bulletin that they had given a commitment to the Union. This too is an unfair Labour Practice in our view.
Meanwhile, just as it looked like the Union would be taking a strike vote, BCAA announced wage increases privately to 26 employees at ERS. The same thing happened before Christmas and we now have an unprecedented 38 employees with secret wage increases of up to 12.5%. All of these are in the form of extra step increases.
These are just the ones we know about. If you did not get a wage increase please contact your supervisor you may get one as BCAA management attempts to illegally influence the voting process. Never in the history of ERS have there been so many wage increases given out in such a short time. There is little doubt that this would not be happening if employees had not decided to join a Union.
By the time we get down to the real focus on economic issues at the bargaining table, it may be that ERS will have evened out the inequitable ranges where long service employees are paid less than new ones. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
