Very busy and meticulous work environment with great benefits
Quality Surveillance Associate (QSA) (Former Employee), Round Lake, IL – April 17, 2013
Baxter Healthcare was a great office experience for me in regards to patient care. I was able to work with staff and patients directly to document their concerns with Baxter products. This was a very meticulous process and good documentation was extremely vital to ensure patient safety and high quality products. Workflow management and timeliness were – more... important pieces of daily tasks, as there was an abundance of work to complete. I felt the processes were poorly managed, but the employees worked well together and individually to meet goals. – less

Competitive work environment where there is always an opportunity to do things better.
Assistant Supervisor (Former Employee), Jayuya, PR – April 16, 2013
Pros: everyday is different and challenging
Cons: short breaks
A typical day at Baxter you would first communicate with your co-workers, organize your shift given the problems or the facts of the last shift and take in perspective next shift to cooperate with them. You will establish the production goal, manage a group of around 40 people to manufacture a product that save lives in a limited time.

I learned how – more... to supervise effectively a diverse group of workers and how to communicate them the daily production in a way that they will cooperate beyond our perspectives.

My co-workers, there were ones team-work oriented and others that would better work individually. Most of them very helpful.

The hardest part of the job was how to absorb the problems of the shifts before mine without affecting the production of my team.

The most enjoyable part of the job was to share time with my team while we were al working. – less

Good place to gain experience
Quality Control Analyst II (Current Employee), Los Angeles, CA – April 13, 2013
Good place to work, and an even better place to learn.

Fast paced work with tight deadlines.

Most people who work here are very helpful and responsible.

Obvious that politics get in the way when it come to promotions, seen this too many times . Due to this, many talented people leave, but they leave with mounds of experience. 1 year here equals 7 – more... years anywhere else.

Best route for promotion is to start here, make an impression, leave, and then come back. Repeat every 2-4 years – less

Not good
Project Manager (Former Employee), Hayward, CA – April 9, 2013
Pros: you can go home at a decent hour without a lot of guilt
Cons: you only get 2 weeks vacation for the first 5 years, not many holidays off, bad culture
It feels like you are always being watched and are "over-managed", many unnecessary time-wasting tasks given, strange culture and management, they only promote phony "yes-men", you cannot speak out with your own opinion; if you do, it is not well received. A lot of finger pointing. Most people are unhappy here, there is a high turn over and no real – more... perks. Rather unpleasant place. – less

Work day at Baxter
Lead Production Technician/ Team Supervisor (Former Employee), Cleveland, MS – April 8, 2013
Pros: pay and promotions
Cons: people not agreeing with my ambitious character, but it was never relevant
On a typical day at work, I always went into work with a motive of advancing to the highest level possible. When initially hired, I targeted the management team for any knowledge that could assist with successful completions and promotions. So, every single day that I went to work, I would conquer jobs that was expected to fail if performed by a typical – more... production technician. I always did what was necessary to complete my job in the correct way. Co workers did not specifically love my ambitious spirit, but that wasn't a matter that was relevant. My aim was always to conquer whatever task that was given. The hardest part of my job was taking breaks when needing to do so. I always have the desire to complete a task in a timely manner, but also carefully doing so. The most enjoyable part of my job was the four promotions within one year of working with this company. I learned that, if better is possible, then good is NEVER enough. I aim for success. – less

Baxter was a good Employer to work for.
Packaging (Former Employee), Bloomington, IN – April 8, 2013
Pros: treated all employees alike for the most part
Cons: working the shift i was on
At Baxter we packaged and boxed medicines for many hospitals, i learned alot about what the medicines do for the patients. I learned how the machines worked as a whole. The co workers there where like any other factory. We all kept busy and got our jobs done. There was not really a hard part of the job. Most enjoyable part was the learning experience. – more... I love to learn different thing. – less

Assembler/Assistant Supervisor Backup (Former Employee), PR – March 7, 2013
Pros: free lunch for your birthday
Cons: short breaks
The hardest part of the job was the lack of job security because this company utilized firms like kelly services to reclute people to work, and therefore there are no benefits. The work shifts are very random, I really learned a lot because it was my first experience since graduating from university. The other thing I did not like was that a really – more... tired to applied to jobs within the company that requires the field of studies that I completed for a degree – less

Productive team research environment.
Test Engineer, Engineering Research Laboratory (Former Employee), Round Lake, IL – March 6, 2013
Pros: friendly environment, casual fridays, flex hours
Cons: long commute, contract only work
Worked as a part of a team of test engineers on a new product launch. Tested IV set components on the ability to withstand different stresses such as time, temperature, and pressure.

An average day consisted of running several different tests on the same product under varying circumstances.

Learned a lot about what is necessary to launch a new medical – more... device to market. – less
