Barrie Metro Glass is looking for experienced, knowledgeable, motivated and career minded Glazier Installers who enjoys working in a fast paced and team oriented work environment. Located in Barrie, Barrie Metro Glass specializes in large window projects, including curtain walls, high efficiency triple pane windows, and custom load baring window walls.
We are looking for Glazier Installers to work in specific project in the Edmonton, Alberta.
The main responsibility of the Glazier is to cut, fit, install or replace glass, commercial and industrial on internal and exterior walls of buildings and on some occasions in residential environment. This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time.
Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the BMG Health and Safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Ensure all co-workers and anyone entering the job site follows all appropriate health and safety procedures and wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
Reads and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine type and thickness of glass, frame, installation procedures and materials required.
Installs pre-assembled framework for windows or doors designed to be fitted with glass panels, including stained glass windows, using hand tools.
Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors, and glass products on walls, ceilings or internal and exteriors of buildings.
Install, fit, fabricate on job sites and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in commercial and residential buildings
Fasten glass panes into aluminum frames
Sets glass doors into frame and bolts metal hinges, handles, locks, and other hardware onto glass doors.
Attaches mounting strips and moldings to surface and applies mastic cement, putty, or screws to secure product into position.
Attaches backing and leveling devices to wall surface, using nails and screws, and cuts mounting strips and moldings to required lengths.
Repair and service residential windows, commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures and replace damaged glass or faulty sealant.
Assembles scaffolds and operate various heavy-duty equipment aluminum working machine such as zoom/boom truck, table saw, grinders, drills and various power tools.
Responsible in completing the daily inspection equipment, tools log sheet prior to using equipment.
Responsible for keeping work area clean and neat. Sweeps and cleans area at the end of every day.
Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Minimum 8 years fabricating experience.
Minimum 8 years of glass cutting experience.
High school education or equivalent
Certified in Fall Protection
Certified Zoom/Scissor operator
Certified in WHMIS
Good working knowledge of glass, framework, curtain wall installation
Able to read blueprints
Good understanding of architectural design and material
Great working knowledge and experience with
Excellent measurement using tape measure, and mathematical skills to resolve problems
Maintains and updates knowledge of existing and new equipment
General Skills and Competencies
Good understanding of the Building codes and practices
Great knowledge of the CVOR and inspection regulation
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Excellent communication skills towards external and internal customer, vendors, suppliers and partners
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent customer service attitude
