We’re hiring for attitude: great communicators apply within.
We’re looking for an eager new rising star to join the Barmetrix team to help take our franchise program to the next level. What does that mean? Well, in the words of UCLA basketball coach John Wooden:
"I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent."
Barmetrix owes its success to a formula that helps bars and restaurants meet their potential and their owners/managers build a better quality of life for themselves and those close to them. Our small company continues to grow and beat the odds, and now we’re making a major push to expand into cities across the USA and Canada. We’re ready to add a crucial role to the team: Franchise Development Coordinator.
Our CEO, Matt Rolfe, believes in letting people step up when they feel they are ready to take on the challenge, giving them mentorship, and encouraging them to exercise their capabilities.
You’ll be playing a pivotal role in providing executive support, franchise head office support, and franchisee support – from business presentations to proposal writing to scheduling and travel. You will be responsible for the management and creation of financial and performance based dashboards, franchise territory research and configuration, organizing and executing our annual global conferences and managing social media and marketing campaigns. We need a trusted team player here in Toronto to help tackle all the work that goes along with selling franchise businesses along with running a world class franchise organization.
"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
THIS JOB IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY (in fact, it is not for most)
You’re motivated, always looking for opportunities and new projects. Happy to work on a team as well as alone sometimes.
You get the promptness thing. You’re early, ready, and clear headed, pretty much all the time.
You can handle honest (maybe blunt) feedback because you know it makes you better. And you strive to be better every day.
You’re ready to learn and grow more than you ever have in your life. You are already reading the books, watching www.ted.com, and maybe you’ve even done a leadership retreat or have a business degree. Rubber, meet road.
You’re an organized thinker and doer. This shows in your writing, speech, and work product. You have systems and you work them.
You’re tech savvy. You know your way around a computer, you can put together nice looking documents and spreadsheets, and maybe you even know a thing or two about HTML.
Above all you are at that time in your life where it is time to prove yourself. Not for us - for you. Time to find out what you are really capable of. To reset your boundaries and push through ceilings. To discover the best possible version of yourself.
“Ten minutes early or it's too late.” – Vince Lombardi
“If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar
Barmetrix is a boutique consulting firm serving the bar and restaurant market (we won’t waste space here - Google us and do your homework online). We’re a small company with massive dreams of helping 1million hospitality operators achieve the businesses of their dreams. We are ambitious/crazy enough to think that we can CHANGE THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY because it needs changing! The kind of change that would prevent 8 out of 10 restaurant owners from going bankrupt in inside of 5 years, helping them put their kids through college and provide a better life for their employees.
Our offices are on three continents and four countries, and we’re aggressively growing. Everyone who works here has an opportunity for travel - nationally and internationally.
As a boss, Matt is inspired and motivated by leadership styles like those of John Wooden and Vince Lombardi. Be prepared for some tough love and working at a pace not many can keep up with.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” – Henry David Thoreau
If you’re hungry for a challenge and good business experience, you couldn't pick a better time to join us. We’re offering a spot next to the CEO of the company as we aggressively expand a service business owners are clamoring for. And we’re building a series of live leadership workshops for the hospitality industry because we believe the industry is starved for learning and professional development.
The sky is the limit for your future at Barmetrix and for the right person, plenty of room for growth and advancement.
Matt is also a big believer in mentorship and personal development and will actively coach you to be the best you can be, if you are ready to do the heavy lifting required.
WHAT’S THE CATCH?
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls, and looks like work.” – Thomas Edison
Well, for starters it will be hard work. You’ll be jumping into the deep end with a steep learning curve and you’ll be expected to take proactive charge of your own success here. We’ll lay out the expectations and help you reach your potential, but we expect you to play the problem solver.
We’ll need your full attention. This position is mentally demanding and it can’t be “just a job” or a second gig. You’ll need to be present and alert every day to succeed in this role.
The pay package is competitive and we will set key performance goals together that will give you a path to excel and advance.
HOW DO YOU GET THE GIG?
“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” – Karen Lamb
(or) “Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” – W.H. Murray
To apply for the role, create a PowerPoint presentation with:
- A unique introduction that explains why you would be perfect for this position.
- Explain something that you are working on that is most significant to you right now, either in your personal or professional life.
- Three pieces of work that you’re proud of (for example, a blog, excel document, presentation, etc.)
- Name your favorite book that you’ve read this past year and why it resonates with you.
An important part of this position is writing and communication, so show us you really want this.
