I absolutely enjoyed working as a planning and finance office. This was the second job I did for Barclays bank PLC, just before it was acquired by CIBC. The workspace was very positive and there were many opportunities for fair unbiased advancement. The benefits were excellent. Once again Barclays in the Caribbean had international ties which allowed me to work with people within and outside of the Caribbean region.

I am settlement administrator to became senior settlement administrator in 1994. I saw they had their own building to end the day they sold their business to Hong Kong bank of Canada the I got layoff. Usually other company could leave early before holdiday times but we had to make sure all transaction went through properly and had to do extra work after holdiday.
4 weeks vacation time when took in winter time if summer only 3 weeks

Arrive at work about 6 a.m. even tho not open until 7:30, but I like to arrive early and get organized. Turn on all computers, machines, coffee, lights. Start answering emails, faxes and phone messages. Start entering orders for the day. Pick order, shipping. Answering approx: 60 calls per day regarding warranty, repairs, customers' questions / concerns / po's. Data entry, computerized inventory quick count. Sales meeting with sales team, new ideas etc.
Time off when needed, lunches paid for, supper meetings.

Started with the Branch in an Administrative role and progressed to being the Assistant Manager. This is where my banking career started. In-house and on the job training in Money Market and Foreign Exchange which was the major part of my job. Worked well with my co-workers and thoroughly enjoyed every part of my role at Barclays Bank of Canada.
