Senior Admin Support (Former Employee), Mumbai, MH – January 30, 2013
Pros: free lunches
Cons: sometimes long hours
Dealing with customers and client service and performing with efficiency and productivity. Superior and Management were very co-operative and helpful when required. The co-workers were like a family and was lovely organization.
Team really talented but the IB division is going down
Assistant Vice President (Current Employee), New York, NY – May 26, 2014
Pros: pays very well and has a really talented technical team
Cons: work can be mediocre, frustrating the talented people forcing them to leave
Liked the team and the management but unfortunately due to the IB business going down and rumours of IB being moved to a bad assets bank the morale of the employees is at an all time low.
I really wouldnt recommend anyone to work in any of the Investment Banking teams as of now. I m guessing the Non Investment banking side of the bank is doing fine – more... and is very nice place to work. – less
Good place to start a career but lacking in culture and growth opportunities
Investment Banking Associate (Current Employee), New York, NY – May 2, 2014
Pros: high profile clients
Cons: lack of culture and poor top down management
The culture at Barclays is incredibly group specific and as the result, there is no one cohesive, company culture. A number of the frustrations that exist at any bulge bracket investment bank exist but are multiplied by the lack of collaboration and cohesion between departments. The hours, like any other large bank are less than ideal. The pro of working – more... at Barclays like any other large financial institution is the opportunity to work on more high profile deals than you would see at a small firm. – less
