POSITON RESPONSIBILITIES (Note: 32 hours per week)
Develop and grow Foster Care Program; recruiting Foster Care Parents, adhering to licensing requirements, assist with application process and training of new Foster Parents
Ensure proper intake of young people from CAS/CCAS/FACS to the program
Develop a positive, supportive relationship with foster parents and youth
Provide direct service in supporting the foster parents and youth in behavioural planning, crisis intervention and treatment
Assess, understand and plan for the youths emotional, physical and educational needs
Work in conjunction with the Foster Parents, Program Coordinator, Banyan Clinical Services and other service providers to
implement and evaluate individual & group therapeutic programs ensuring individual development of each youth’s ability
Attend meetings and conferences when required to provide advocacy for the best interests of each young person a
supportive, safe and predictable environment through established routines and limits
Plan, organize and conduct recreational outings and assist the young people in the pursuit of pro-social leisure pursuits
Complete written reports and assessments when required
Participate in core training and staff development
Participate in Foster parent meetings, staff meetings, clinical meetings
Participate in regular supervision and annual performance review and goal setting
Degree and/or diploma in the Human Services and/or equivalency based on training and experience.
Minimum of 2 –3 years experience providing direct service to youth and families in a Foster Care setting.
Experience with developing a Foster Care Program as affiliated with CAS
Demonstrated advanced understanding and ability to implement therapeutic programs.
Experience working with young people with emotional, psychiatric and behavioural difficulties within the context of a
Advanced Child Management, clinical, crisis intervention, communication and listening skills
Demonstrated Skill in the areas of family intervention and family work
Excellent report writing ability
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, conflict resolution skills, ability to work within a team
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and self-directed
Familiarity with Child Welfare Services, and protocols
PMAB, CPR, First Aid
Class G driver's licence and business insurance which will allow them to transport youth
Ability to work well with and make referrals to community agencies and service partners
Demonstrate administrative and word processing skills.
Ability to work within a clinical model, case management, role-play and group debriefing.
Ability to communicate with young people, foster parents, parents and CAS
Ability to establish consistent and sound practises relating to research and evaluation
Understanding and working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and/or relevant legislation
High level of flexibility and ability to be available evenings and weekends
