ROLE
As a member of the management team the accountant will provide reporting of financial affairs of the enterprise. The incumbent will also provide direction to the administrative staff regarding business processes required for effective financial reporting. Candidate will ideally have CGA, CMA or CA with 3 to 5 years post designation experience and intimately familiar with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Guidelines.

Benchmark Instrumentation & Analytical Services provides and supports a range of advanced measurement products and systems across Canada. They are a leading supplier of Sampling and Analytical products to many primary sector companies to manage and control their operations. Benchmark provides engineering and design, world class sampling and measurement products, system integration and service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Prepare monthly operational reviews and financial statements at for senior management as well as external stakeholders (bank)
Develop budgets and projections with recommendations and conclusions for management
Ensure accounting systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
Provide direction and training to administrative staff on accounting procedures
Provide accounting support to the corporate initiatives related to the ESOP and Ownership Thinking activities in the company

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Timely preparation of management review reports
Effective implementation of corporate initiatives
Administrative staff effectively trained in the execution of methods relating to the accounting and business systems
Timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma/Degree or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of federal and provincial financial regulations for all provinces of Canada
Knowledge of computerized business systems used for accounting
Ability to effectively gather relevant information for reporting, budgeting and forecasting
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Preference given to candidates with working knowledge of production management systems (E2 Shop Systems, Quickbooks, etc.)
3-5 years of previous related experience required.
Experience with finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control
Eligible for CGA, CMA or CA designation
Well organized and able to prioritize and complete assignments
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
Flexible working modes that support team work as well as autonomous working environments
