Avery HR is seeking on behalf of its well respected client in the Mississauga area, a Product Manager to join their team focusing on their Home Appliances division.

Our client is the leading marketer of innovative consumer products launched through television and sold through distribution channels worldwide.

The Product Manager is responsible for the category product development and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product, customer and regulatory requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with suppliers, sales and support team to ensure customer satisfaction goals and business objectives are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.

Job Responsibilities

Determine new or strategic business opportunities in steam cleaning products category and other household appliances through the innovative use of global business analyses, market intelligence, competitive data and customer feedback.

Conduct competitive market analysis in the home appliances category and recommend comparable product developments and provide market insights to decision makers. This includes gathering data from a wide variety of sources (product proposals, samples, market information and reports) and organizing it in a systematic fashion based on individual business requirements.

Interact directly with the product development and sales teams to identify, evaluate and recommend design improvements and ideas.

Modify existing products to produce secondary versions as improvements to mature products
Execute the development of new products, product design, project costing, and coordinating the efforts of other departments to support cross-functional collaboration
Conduct final product testing and inspection and recommend acceptance or rejection of completed designs.
Ensure ongoing compliance with International, US and Canadian standards and legislation for assigned electrical household appliances. Experience with EN/IEC and/or UL standards is preferred.
Understanding of RoHS, REACH and Prop 65 regulations is an asset.
Apply a structured approach to problem-solving, understands the mechanical and safety context and impact of problems and demonstrates an extensive technical knowledge of available resources and content. Provides post mortem/root cause analysis for significant product quality related issues.

Work with vendors through all stages of the product lifecycle to ensure concept to execution targets are met.

Collaborate closely with the Product Development, Quality Assurance and Legal teams to identify requirements, directions and bring product concepts to life.

Review/investigate all customer complaints.

Developing new product manuals and other printed materials for new and existing products.
Work closely with Graphic Designers to ensure brand and marketing targets are being met and provide clear and directive instructions to designers to ensure main product features are correctly addressed.
Work with sales team to ensure they have the necessary product info and competitive knowledge to represent company's products effectively.

Configure and maintain numerous product Specification (SKUs) and Info sheets for assigned products.

Organize and maintain reference files of a wide range of product categories and configurations.

Excellent computer skills - Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Education and experience:

University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preference will be given to individuals who have had experience with home cleaning appliances, particularly those who have had exposure to the steam cleaning product category.
