Job Title: Produce Manager

Position Summary

Contributes to the achievement of the Produce Department financial goals by monitoring and evaluating performance of the department and implementing plans to achieve objectives.

Position Responsibilities

Ensures effective communications and responds to Customer questions; Locates merchandise; and provides requested assistance concerning availability, selection criteria, preparation, and use of produce items, including offering to select product for Customer or retrieve fresh produce from the backroom if available. Ensures a safe and clean environment by maintaining safety standards, including the safe handling of produce; performing maintenance; responding to spills; and cleaning holding area, produce cooler, displays, and floors as required by department using mops, towels, and appropriate cleaning solutions and methods. Monitors area for signs of shrink and potential security risks, including produce products being discarded and not recorded and dating and temperature exceptions, and contacts management and/or In-Store Loss Prevention when problems are identified. Completes and maintains required paperwork, such as Inventory Tracking Reports, throwaway record sheets, invoices, and assigned notes. Receives produce products by unloading the merchandise from delivery vehicles, moving it to the backroom area through the use of pallet jacks and facility carts, and placing it in holding areas, such as produce coolers. Merchandising Completes all aspects of Produce Department Ensures effective communications and responds to Customer questions; Locates merchandise; and provides requested assistance concerning availability, selection criteria, preparation, and use of produce items, including offering to select product for Customer or retrieve fresh produce from the backroom if available. Qualifications

Ability and knowledge to interpret financial and performance reports and the skill to implement merchandising and operations action plans. Ability to adapt to and work effectively in various parts of the facility. Ability to complete mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to develop and motivate Associates and evaluate their performance. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Customers, Associates, and Suppliers. Ability to learn more about merchandise and utilize information to assist Customer with purchasing decisions. Ability to order, receive, stock, and display merchandise in appropriate manner with proper signage in accordance with Company guidelines.

Licensing & Other Qualifications

Ability to safely use pallet jacks, ladders, and other equipment. Knowledge of and ability to apply Company and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of and proficiency with scanning equipment, scales, and hand tools, such as knives and scissors. Knowledge of produce products, such as origin, shelf life, selection criteria, uses, freshness, and pricing, as well as product rotation and clean and trim procedures.

Physical Demands

Organizing, labeling, and pricing merchandise in accordance with Company guidelines using fine motor skills to grasp, turn, and manipulate labeling and pricing equipment; while moving within the department over uneven surfaces and moving up and down a ladder, constantly lifting, sorting, carrying, and placing merchandise and supplies of varying sizes weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and regularly lifting over 50 pounds with team lifting. Routinely working in an area with exposure to extreme temperatures and damp conditions.
