We are an energetic company that provides specialized transportation to the oil and gas industry in both Canada and the United States. In the role of an HSE Safety Advisor you will provide field safety support to the Canadian Terminals and Company HSE system. This position will work out of our Leduc, Sylvan Lake, or Calgary Terminal. The location will be dependent on the successful candidate.

As the HSE Safety Advisor your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Management, Terminals and the HSE team in supporting and implementing positive and progressive changes in our safety culture
  • Leading incident investigations and developing hazard alerts
  • Working with the Terminals on ensuring corrective actions arising from incidents, audits and inspections are completed and implemented
  • Providing field level safety support on equipment and rig moves, including liaising with customers as required
  • Supporting the Terminals with safety related activities such as, new worker orientations, safety meetings, crew talks, pre-works, emergency response plans, risk assessments training logs and JSA’s
  • Supporting the Terminals with managing driver log books and hours of service
  • Keeping up to date on all legislation and ensuring the organization is compliant for COR, OHS, and DOT requirements
  • Working with HSE coordinator to ensure the company is kept up to date and compliant with ISN, PICS, and Comply Works
  • Advising and implementing Alcohol and Drug testing when and where required
  • Working with the Director of HSE on all Insurance and WCB claims
  • Developing Safe Work Procedures and Job Safety Analysis as required
  • Working with stakeholders to update the HSE manual and providing support to the Terminals on the procedures and policies within the manual
  • Working with the Director of HSE on developing and Implementing procedures, processes and systems
  • Working with the Director of HSE on conducting internal organizational audits as required
  • Supporting the organization with planning, conducting and leading annual emergency drills

Minimum Requirements and Experience

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or working towards accreditation
  • University degree in HSE Management or related field
  • 5 + years related industry experience
  • 5 + years’ experience in a safety advisor position
  • Experience in safety program auditing (COR preferred)
  • Experience with Transportation, OHS and DOT regulations & legislation
