Could be great place to work.
Field Engineer (Former Employee), Urbandale, IAApril 25, 2013
Pros: the field staff for the nortel ivr was outstanding, everyone willing to help with a problem or concern i had.
Cons: management, seemed to me, was to out the nortel staff, most conference calls every week, only dealt with what the avaya staff had concerns with.
I was part of Nortel, before Avaya bought us out, we became Avaya in 2010.

They changed management personel, at that time, they took a manager that I had with Nortel IVR experience and was a wonderful manager, always answered our questions or concerns.

When Avaya took over, I pleaded for months about cross training on the Avaya IVR solution, but this – more... fell on deaf ears, then this past Jan 2013, they laid off 7 of 17 field engineers that serviced the Nortel IVR solution.

As far as I can tell, there is no Field Engineer either North or West of Dallas, TX. – less

Disaster of a company
Inside Sales Level III (Former Employee), Miami, FLMarch 7, 2013
Pros: nice people, had lots of fun, good pay
Cons: very unprofessional dept with lots of graft and cheating
This is a disaster of a company....mostly due to lack of ethics and professionalism and and seriousness. There was rampant cheating by the inside sales group (passing on sales that they weren't responslibe for ) and getting double commission, which was condoned by management. Management (which I understand has all been let go)....The work environment – more... was similar to a circus. No sales were actually made nor work produced. Most employees suspected my particular sales dept was created as part of an Obama stimulus package and that is why no real work ever got done. All managers were let go, some for doing drugs and having sex with the employees during work hours. A typical day would be that most people would socialize and watch Youtube videos and go home and come and go whenever they wanted...Business partners would submit done deals and let the INside Sales reps at Avaya pass them off as though they did them so Avaya would pay double commsision. Management condoned this to beef up numbers for the corporate office. – less

Summary of Avaya Inc Client Services
Avaya Client Services (Former Employee), Denver ColoradoJanuary 7, 2013
Pros: good benefits
Cons: work/life are not balanced
A typical day is 7x24 as your are on-call , so week-ends and vacations are not free.

Multiple conference calls keep your prime focus from your objectives.

The team concept is used, but the organizations are still in silo's.

The hardest part of the job is not being supported by managment.

The most enjoyable part of the job are your customers and – more... your team members. – less

Confused and uncoordinated
Business Manager (Former Employee), Santa ClaraDecember 28, 2012
Pros: mostly virtual
Cons: too many processes owned by individuals
This company is confused by its own heritage. Red or Blue - they don't know. Unfortunately quality top management is overrun by incompetent mid-level managers who have been there for life.
