ATB used to be a great place to work, but when they brought in new upper management, the old culture that they had, left and it was all about making money and not the customer. If you are looking for a high pressure sales organization, with very little reward, then ATB is for you. They did pay quite well, but when it came to bonuses, they found every way possible NOT to pay you. A typical day with ATB, is a lot of phone calls, and your best customer is always your next customer. Although they do preach about building string customer relationships, the reality is they only care about the next sale. Management only cares about making money, that trickles down from the CEO down to branch managers. They area great working class type, that really benefits from a banker that can give good advice.
Salary is above average for industry, culture is negative and abusive

I worked at ATB for 5 years, Personal Banking Specialist, no support when training is requested, expected to do the job of 2 to 3 people without support and expected to be continuously interrupted and expected to perform with zero mistakes. Corporate is disillusioned when it comes to branch life. Highly demanding customers and management. Targets are impossible to reach.
CEO will hold your bonus hostage until enough people make noise.

I held different positions during my time with ATB. I dealt with customers every day. I did deposits, balanced cash, learned about our products (credit cards/gic's/investments, etc) I started out in the call center working from my home. I then worked in branch in two locations. I worked the business wicket, and became the head cashier when I transferred to the second location. I was responsible for ordering the cash, loading the ATM machines, choosing the agenda for staff meetings, and preparing cash orders for several business clients daily.
Excellent work hours, nice wage, benefits and bonusses.
Standing on my feet in one position most of the day.

Taking care of client needs for small business loans and deposits, as well as other services related to operating a business. Learned that "bankers hours" is a term that must have been created by a non-banker. Long extra hours required to complete the role and to be even moderately successful towards reaching required goals Went through several management changes and found personally believe that the "family culture" does not exist anymore. Associates are being treated as "a commodity". Personally it feels like job security has changed for associates. Job security does not seem to be there anymore. Training and advancement is separate (from job security) and is provided. Hardest part of the job was the extra time required to be successful. Most enjoyable part of the job was visiting with clients and hearing their stories and dreams and being able to provide them with assistance and guidance in obtaining same.

horrible management, the managers all leave early and take a number of days off. Too many ridiculous one on one meetings where the managers go through your calls. On average you take 60 calls a day, the managers with their confused policies want you to never take your break even a minute late so your 'adherence ' doesnt get affected, iam not sure what they want do they want us to hang up on clients while on the phone. They want you to finish calls early and also have conversations with employees

ATB is a wonderful place to work. I enjoyed working there. Lots of festivals, celebrations and community/charity work. Salary is bit lower compared to others. They offer great level of benefits. Benefits can be customized according to the needs. Work place culture is quite interesting. Its totally different environment then other typical workplaces. I loved working here.
