NOTE: Due to the nature of the requirements this position will require the applicant to be living in Kingston and immediate area. Applicants currently residing outside of the Province of Ontario WILL NOT be considered.

Construction Inspector Required.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observe work performed by contractor or its subs.
  • Verify work is performed in accordance with the contract for construction.
  • Prepare daily reports to document contractor work operations.
  • Enter daily reports into computer reporting and tracking system.
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Ensure safety protocols are being followed.
  • Field measure quantities and perform supporting mathematical calculations.
  • Take direction from Senior Inspection staff.
  • Other project related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience/Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to provide own transportation.
  • Candidate should be able to work under minimal supervision, utilizing experience and judgment to apply concepts, standards and procedures within the field.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment.
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
  • Ability to manage relationships with client, contractors, local inspectors & code officials, etc.
  • Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Construction safety.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat and Email is required.
  • The successful candidate must be highly reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and punctual.
  • 5 years minimum Inspection experience.

The Construction Inspector will review Contract Documents, conduct inspections and perform paraprofessional field engineering on construction projects to ensure methods and materials meet local regulations, approved plans, specifications and accepted construction and engineering practices. A minimum of five years of experience is required in civil, concrete or asphalt paving, and utility construction trades or inspection and have a thorough knowledge of local requirements. The successful candidate will ideally be a graduate of a 3 year Civil Engineering Technologist Program or higher. CET designation or working towards the designation is an asset.
