Good Job to help others.
Personal care staff (Former Employee), 220 brookdale Dr, Springfield, MADecember 13, 2014
Pros: helping others.
Cons: lack of facility in public.
At the association one would help individuals with various disabilities with their daily living. I learned that people with disabilities need to be advocated for on a continual basis. management was always supportive and available to assist. my co workers was always colorful happy and compassionate people. I have always enjoyed working with them. The – more... most difficult part of the job is going out into the community and not being able to properly aid an individual. This is rare. the most enjoyable is when a resident shows you how much they appreciate your help. – less

Pretty alright job
Respite Care Provider (Former Employee), Springfield, MANovember 22, 2014
I would go to my aunt's house to help take care of her client. I learned that it can be pretty easy. I just had to give her the medications she took and heat up her dinner and put her breathing mask on to sleep. I mainly just did it with my aunt. She helped me get used to a few things and I didn't do too much for her since she was able to walk around. – more... I didn't really have an enjoyable or hard part to the job at all since I didn't need to do much. – less

Good place to work supervisors are nice. If you do not feel comfortable the supervisors will train you on what you do not know.

I loved working with developmentally disable clients. There was great teamwork at the Association for Community Living and the staff was first class.
Personal Care Assistant level two (Former Employee), Springfield, MAMay 25, 2013
Pros: i love to cook and both the clients and staff loved my food.
Cons: some time we would be so short staffed.
A typical day at work I would arrive at work 15 minutes early and read the flow sheet. Then I wound do my rounds to physically check the conditions of the clients. Then I wound prepare breakfast, count medicine, or wash and dress the clients for their daily activities.
I learn how to chart medicine, count medicine, pass medicine, and G-Tube care.Management – more... was very good at keeping the clients first and explaining procedures. My co-workers were great at teamwork. The hardest part of the job was sometimes we were short staffed and had double the workload. The most enjoyable part of the job was the clients. – less
