We are currently looking for an experienced individual to fill the position of Senior Lead Estimator. This position is a key contributor and senior member of the newly established Project Management Office (PMO) and is responsible for preparing and managing cost estimates for various mining projects. This includes the total project life cycle, including conceptual design through to implementation.
Our ideal candidate has extensive professional experience (7 years or greater) in estimating underground mining projects, in particular estimating shaft sinking/civil and heavy structural steel structures experience is essential along with in-depth knowledge of underground mining methods.
Establishing professional and commendable working relationships with stakeholders; including clients, engineering staff, discipline leads, client representatives, and department & project managers.
Appreciating and understanding the client’s needs in order to provide quality services and earn additional business through proactive relationship building and quality deliveries.
Developing, maintaining, and improving all processes, procedures, templates and tools related to estimate planning, development and management.
Developing and maintaining cost estimates in alignment with project management strategies and schedules to support engineering, procurement and construction phases of projects.
Preparing estimate plans, presentations and estimate basis documents and conducting audits and estimate reviews with project controls managers, project managers and clients.
Developing and maintaining a cost information database and library for the Corporate Project management office. Maintain a historical database for the close out projects estimates including lesson learn documentations.
Developing commodity resource code structure for the company Project Management Office (PMO), and be able to standardize the COA (Code of Accounts) structure to map and synchronize CBS, WBS and OBS for integrated cost management processes.
Preparing capital and operating cost estimates to support studies ranging from order of magnitude to detailed feasibility for mining and/or materials handling projects.
Ensuring output of resources is completed on time, on budget, and exceeding quality standards. This includes integrating schedules and cost estimates to produce realistic spending schedules.
Estimating productivity factors, equipment and manpower costs.
Mentoring and training of junior AMC personnel to become more prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
Who You Are:
12 years professional experience in small to large scale mining and materials handling (crushers and conveyors) projects with a focus on development and construction. Out of which a minimum of 7 years experience in estimating underground mining projects, in particular estimating shaft sinking/civil and heavy structural steel structures experience is essential along with in-depth knowledge of underground mining methods.
Graduate degree or equivalent experience with a technical diploma in engineering or engineering technology combined.
Experience with estimating packages such as XERAS and Timberline would be considered an asset.
Familiarity with scheduling software (such as P6) will be considered an added expertise.
Knowledgeable in the estimate risk analysis process.
Applied experience in estimate risk analysis software.
CCP (certified Cost Professional) certification would be an asset.
