ARCADIS US is the US arm of Netherlands-based environmental and engineering services company ARCADIS. The company provides consulting, design, engineering, and project and construction management services related to infrastructure, environment, water management, and buildings. Services include the designing of groundwater monitoring and treatment systems, feasibility studies, construction management, and the operation and maintenance of remedial technologies. The group also offers risk evaluation and assessment services, bioremediation services, regulatory compliance support, and testing and sampling services. The US accounts for more than half of ARCADIS' global sales.
The group has expanded through numerous acquisitions over the years. In 2011 ARCADIS acquired UK-based EC Harris LLP. The deal enhanced ARCADIS' consulting and management services, especially in the UK, Middle East, and Asia.
Previously, ARCADIS has focused acquisitions in US -- its fastest-growing segment. In 2009, ARCADIS US acquired water and wastewater specialist Malcolm Pirnie in a move that paid off quickly: The following year, a joint venture between Malcolm Pirnie and PIKA was awarded part of a $1.1 billion contract by the US Army to support munitions response and waste remediation services at US bases worldwide. The unit also has some $3.4 billion in contract work for The City of New York. With the growth of its water-related projects after the Malcolm Pirnie acquisition, ARCADIS introduced water as its fourth business line.
In late 2010 ARCADIS US acquired project management firm Rise International, which operates on public, infrastructure, institutional, and commercial developments throughout the US. It then established its PMCM (project management and construction management) arm to provide third-party management services.
Previous acquisitions include environmental management and consulting firm LFR, which added more than 30 offices throughout the country; Baltimore-based architecture and engineering firm RTKL; environmental and soil remediation specialist Blasland, Bouck & Lee; and Greystone Environmental Consultant, a permitting, monitoring, environmental planning, and feasibility studies specialist.
Founded in 1957, ARCADIS US has about 130 offices throughout the country. It is ARCADIS' largest division. – less
