The Set Up Supervisor is a key member of the Aquatech Pump and Power Team who will use their strong understanding of water and wastewater distribution systems and related regulations and practices to supervise and manage our onsite temporary pumping, dewatering or dredging operations. The Set Up Supervisor will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible to coordinate and facilitate the setup of pumping and/or dewatering systems, ensuring all regulatory guidelines are followed as well as the completion of proper documentation. The Set Up Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating communication between the Sales and Engineering team and the Clients for site activities as well as all third party work assignments. Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise the delivery/setup team to ensure manpower, equipment and materials are delivered and installed in a timely and efficient manner with appropriate documentation;
  • Ensure that all staff members are working in accordance with all regulatory guidelines, company protocols, policies and procedures;
  • Organize, plan, prioritize, assign and supervise deliveries and set-up of pumping equipment;
  • Evaluate operations and activities; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare various reports on operations and activities;
  • Notify Operations Manager of all training requirements to ensure that every member of the team is equipped with the necessary resources and tools to perform projects responsibly;
  • Conduct site inspections as required, identify obstructions and site constraints to ensure safe and efficient delivery and setup;
  • Review job packages, confirm completeness and understand design/intent of engineered system;
  • Coordinate third party shipping and deliveries;
  • Coordinate onsite layout of projects and understand scope of work;
  • Coordinate pump watch requirements;
  • Maintain time, material and equipment use records; requisition supplies and materials;
  • Coordinate after hours emergency response;
  • Assist in pumping system setups as required;
  • Participate in on-call and scheduled rotation as necessary;
  • Operate company trucks in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Act in accordance to Aquatech’s Health and Safety and Environmental Management systems, as well as;
  • Perform related duties as assigned;

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Hold a minimum OIT for water/wastewater with the ability and intent to obtain Level I Wastewater Certification (or higher)
  • 3 to 5 years experience supervising staff
  • experience working with pumps, pumping systems (diesel, hydraulic and electric motors, centrifugal trash pumps, fluid dynamics, hydraulics and pneumatics) or related field an asset
  • 3 to 5 years experience in equipment purchase and rental or related field
  • Experience in the municipal, construction and industrial sectors an asset
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment principles, practices, methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of materials and equipment used in a full range of water/wastewater distribution systems, maintenance and repair activities
  • Knowledge of methods and precautions in storing and handling a variety of chemicals
  • Knowledge of elements of construction technology as they relate to water/wastewater distribution systems, facilities and construction maintenance and repair activities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good organizational, computer and time management skills
  • Ability to life and carry up to 70 pounds frequently and on a daily basis
  • Uninhibited ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, push, pull, reach and grasp
  • Sporadic exposure to outdoor weather, shop and job site conditions
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Forklift Certification considered an asset
  • Valid Class A or D Driver’s License considered an asset
