Transport Telecom Engineer

Our client is seeking for a Transport Telecom Engineer for a permanent job opportunity downtown Montreal. You will be responsible for Designing/Testing/Implementing/Documenting and Supporting our client's camera and core legacy transport Networks. You must clearly understand the business requirements of a 7/24 rail transport environment where safety and reliability are mission critical and propose solutions to that effect.

Our client's network offers great challenges for the telecom engineer:

  • spans over North America (Canada and United States)
  • is composed of several communications mediums (fibre/copper/wireless/cell/microwave/etc).
  • is currently expanding its corporate video network.
  • is composed of more than 300 Nortel Optical nodes and more than 500 Alcatel Newbridge multiplexers

We are looking for a self-starter who can rapidly analyze situations, and decisively take actions to address the situation at hand. Some travel will be required.


Find optimal solutions to meet business objectives conforming to architectural direction.
Test and document proposed designs.
Present and explain designs and solutions to multiple groups.
Perform differential cost analyses.
Provide coordination, support and assistance to other groups on any transport and camera related issues.

3-5 years of experience on legacy Nortel and Newbridge platforms.
2-3 years of experience on Omnicast camera system deployments.
Strong knowledge of IP networking and routing.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Telecommunications specialization preferred.
Experience and knowledge in design, operations and optimization of TDM and IP networks.
Experience in building business cases and providing estimates is an asset.
Bilingual (English, French).
