A typical day as an analytical chemist requires you to perform a variety of testing regularly concurrently and under a tight deadline. You receive training across a wide breadth of tests including HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis.
Management seems to be operate in a traditional fashion.
Your peers are generally helpful and good natured.
Lack of future advancement and being overload with work are the hardest things about the job.
The most enjoyable things about the job are: the amount of different tests you will be trained with, many good mentors, good medical and dental coverage.
Routine schedule, good benefits, bonuses.
Raises are minimal, advancement is limited, weekend shift work.
