Roles and Responsibilities

Primary role is to perform programming and machining operations on CNC machines, conventional machine tools and hand tools.


Under limited supervision; set-up, operate, maintain and repair CNC and manual machine shop equipment to make original parts.
Work from complex engineering drawings and general engineering instructions to execute work assignments.
Measure and examine completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Contribute to the assembly and fitting of machined parts in higher assemblies.
Work with designers and engineers to de-risk part wear and failures through shape, material and finish changes.
Monitor cutter tool wear, fixtures, and devices used to fabricate concept prototypes and production parts. Reorder cutters as required.
Manage machine maintenance; clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment as required.
Maintain WHIMIS files related to chemicals used to lubricate and clean machines.
Keep manufacturing area clean and safe.


Completion of a CNC Operator/Programmer Certificate from a recognized training institution and a minimum of 5 years of experience in operating/programming CNC machines. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
Experience setting up, programming and operating FANUC CNC machines.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Experience in quality control and measurement principles.
Computer literate with knowledge of SolidWorks eDrawing Viewer, EPDM, MS Office products.
Experience working in a prototyping production environment an asset.
Enhanced mechanical skills, a technical school general shops program an asset.
Bilingual – English/French an asset.
