Roles and Responsibilities

Primary role is to support engineering, production and chemistry department procurement of materials, machines, instrumentation, and associated contracting activities.


Review requirements generated by the chemistry, production and engineering departments and provide assistance in the preparation of specifications for out-sourcing.
Prepare request-for-quotations, purchase orders, and complete search activities for potential vendors.
Perform costing and delivery analysis to determine the optimal component price while meeting the required delivery schedule.
Participate in the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions.
Recommends solutions for best value proposition taking into consideration concepts such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Coordinate procurement deliverables with project leads, chemistry department and process engineering disciplines. Organize review meetings with departments to converge on vendor selection.
Develop the supply chain through developing relationships with vendors in North America and Asia.
Monitor contracts and vendor performance and consult with vendors and/or user departments to implement corrective action when required.
Arrange for samples, testing and evaluation of new products.
Contribute to the development and formulation of purchasing procedures and practices as required.
Provide estimates of time needed to finish assigned work.


Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a degree in business administration, commerce or engineering with 5 years of experience in a technical procurement capacity.
Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office products.
Knowledge of SolidWorks e-viewer an asset.
Technical background with knowledge of machines, manufacturing and shop processes an asset.
Knowledge of machines used to manufacture composite parts an asset.
Bilingual – English/French an asset.
