Good environment, terrible conditions
Teleinterpreter (Former Employee), San Juan, PR – May 7, 2013
Pros: environment
Cons: questionable ethics
The most enjoyable part of the job are the co-workers. Personnel is is carefully selected to be well-educated individuals. The environment is nice, very comfortable, and compensation is passable. The work is at the least, interesting.

However, Aon Hewitt has a revolving door for a reason: personnel is hired in large batches simply to cover seasonal – more... necessities. Once high season is over, rest assure you will be asked to leave on a Friday night. Even those promoted get demoted. Your availability is rarely taken into account and you if you voice your opinion, be ready to be reprimanded with less hours. If you have the pleasure of working in a call center, be sure you don't have a weak bladder, because they do not like it when you go to the bathroom! Anyway, what this means to me is that this company does not put their money where its mouth is. Their Human Resource work ethics are terrible. – less

Productive and fun work place
Benefits Operation Administration (Current Employee), Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh – May 6, 2013
Its a good company and the finest place to work where you can gain experience with realizing your strength and the potential of whatever you are capable of doing and contribute the same to your company in same way. This company also encourage people to learn new things and encourage them to take on to challenging tasks and resolve them with creative – more... solution. – less

Management leaves something to be desired ...
Benefits Operations Manager Defined Contributions (Former Employee), Orlando, FL – May 2, 2013
Pros: salary is market level
Cons: poor management skills among managers.
I worked with a girl who had been with the business for 10 years and had just made manager. She was capable but the managers are very click-ish. They tended to ignor problems rather that seek out root causes. Some of the managers should have been let go long ago but had been there so long they were afraid to deal with them.

Disorganized, high-stress, low-return workplace
Operations Specialist (Current Employee), Jericho, NY – April 24, 2013
Pros: exciting work for high-profile clients, constant new projects so you are never bored
Cons: no breaks, no opportunities for advancement, low raises, little security
As great as the actual work and team can be, this organization is horribly mismanaged and at times, hypocritical. For a business which presumes to consult with other organizations on how best to manage, motivate, and fairly develop employees, AonHewitt does a shockingly poor job internally. Talent is unrewarded, there are limited to no opportunities – more... for upward mobility within the company, the pay is insultingly low, the demands on your time and flexibility frustratingly high. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I can't wait to leave (as does most of the department). – less

Aon is an excellent to work for. Their benefits are competitive in the marketplace and their vision is in the forefront of HR/Benefits.
Benefits Operations Manager (Current Employee), Hunt Valley, MD – April 24, 2013
Pros: offer virtual work.
Cons: none.
Excellent company. The benefits are competitive and they are very much in the know when it comes to what companies are looking for in benefits administration.

The upside would be tremendous but...
Benefits Administrator (Current Employee), Winston-Salem, NC – April 22, 2013
When I started at Aon, they had just bought out Hewitt. I had no complaints about management, auditing protocol, systems or promotion/pay scale. Systems ran smoothly, communication was important and was practiced.
But by the end of my first year we Aon started implementing Hewitt systems and issues arose. Vital programs and software needed to do the – more... job, constantly crashed or would be down to the point of it being unprofessional. CSR's would be graded on how they handled these issues w/o proper training.
As time has passed Aon has adopted pretty much all of Hewitt's systems, protocol, pay scale, promotion standard and turnover.
You must be promoted within 18 months to keep your seat. Side projects and showing initiative to do jobs that others won't or can't do are not helpful to your resume there, it can actually harm your adherence and performance as the new protocol judges and passes you on numbers. These projects are "noted" in your employee portfolio but does not help you towards promotion. CSR's that stare at their screen, answer calls and do not partake in "special projects" are promoted bc of the numbers. This causes issues within the company as the wrong people are being promoted and show no initiative to get issues corrected nor show the "how to" when an issue arises.
As of this year (2013), there has not a week in which we have been issue free. It is unprofessional at this point. There are days where the phones to do not work, internet is down; we are using an out dated IE (IE 6 to boot), and are running an outdated Windows for the types of programs we are using on a daily basis.
Some of our billing programs are Windows 95 based and most of the clients we assist are not set up to take payments online or over the phone. There are a small handful of clients that are actually set up to accept email.
Aon was a great place to be at the first 8 months of my career there. At one time, it was the best job I had ever had and I've worked for some great companies. But over time, many of my coworkers and my morale have went to the dark. There is a feeling of dread entering the work place and working on fear is not a great way to spend your day. – less

Wonderful and busy.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Lincolnshire, IL – April 19, 2013
Pros: very busy, keeps one on their toes, if you like being challenged, wonderful cafeteria.
Cons: short breaks, that can easily be missed due to calls.
A typical can be very busy, calls coming back to back and having to find information for each caller.
It teaches one to juggle their work, work faster with accuracy.
Management, was OK, tools used encouraged workers to be more responsible with less need for management intervention.
Hardest part of the day was dealing with customers who were difficult, – more... expecting things that were beyond us.
Most enjoyable was helping a frustrated customer and end the call with them very happy because of your help. – less

Great flexibility, underpaid.
Systems Analyst (Former Employee), Atlanta, GA – April 15, 2013
I worked for Aon Hewitt. Best flexibility in terms of work hours, vacation, and remote working. However, the compensation is well below industry standards and most employees are overworked.

Aon
Payroll Delivery Analyst II (Current Employee), Charlotte, NC – April 4, 2013
Pros: aon has a flexible work schedule and allow employees to work virtual positions
Cons: no room for growth
Aon is a good company to start an entry level payroll position. Once you have reached the plato of leadership there are no opportunites for higher management roles. I am at a place where I am seeking a management role and do not want to transfer to a consulting position in order to move into that role.

Benefits Operation Analyst (Former Employee), The Woodlands, TX – April 3, 2013
Aon was a decent company to work for. The company offers paid time off, sick time, personal holidays in addition to normal vacation time. A person learns a lot about benefits and will be able to advise family members in regards to their benefits. However, you do work hard.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Hewitt Associates. I handled payroll tax matters with a team of employees that handled a very large client. The company had great morale and benefits.
