Good job but the management could be improved
Welder (Current Employee), Saint Joseph, MODecember 23, 2015
Pros: Good pay
Cons: Horrible management
The job itself is great, great pay and once you have your job down it is pretty manageable. The supervisors and group leaders are about the laziest and most immature Ive worked for. Giving others slack off time during the night and promoting friends instead of the workers that actually deserve the job is common practice. Open door policy sounds great but does nothing to solve any problems because the next higher up will not listen to your issues with a supervisor if he is friends with said supervisor.

Auto Electrical Assembler (Former Employee), Indianapolis, INNovember 18, 2015
Pros: Holiday bonuses
Cons: management rudeness
I loved working for this company i like what i did but management was very nasty and unfeasible a lot of changing of rules that didn't make sense and not very caring of personal life rude comments that would be said weren't taken serious by management.

Not enough to keep people employed
Title- Utility Worker (Former Employee), Saint Joseph, MONovember 10, 2015
Pros: easy going place
Cons: no chance for temp to be hired full time long process through home office for being hired
Great company but just not enough opportunity and if you building, doesn't have enough work they just let you go instead of seeing if you may fit some where else in the company. They use temp service so I understand but still needs to be equal opportunity employer.

Nice company to work for. Like any other place it had its ups and downs. Constantly stayed busy and there was always a chance for overtime if you were needing it.

Challenging job where you can be apart of up to 5 projects simultaneously. Co-workers are very welcoming and helpful and everyone in the Burnsville location wants to see the plant succeed.

Great place to work. However, working in the cold and hot temperatures is not always fun but the pay made up for that. Always room for advancement and supervisors were awesome to work for.

Mobile Service Technician Trainee (Current Employee), NyAugust 10, 2015
Pros: expensed lunches and dinners also if in hotel.
Pay is very good for this area. Advancement is not anywhere to be seen, hire in supervisors from outside. I have had four supervisors in two years.`

Production Assembler (Current Employee), Elizabethtown, KYJuly 22, 2015
Pros: great pay, off majority of weekends, great pay, opportunity to move up and much more
Cons: need more employee accountability
This an overall pretty good place to work, although upper management has become I would say, too caught up on adding more and more business and dismissing an efficient amount of time to build the trucks along with rushing and paper pushing qualityat which goes to building our "zero defect" High Quality built trucks... Great job just a few kinks that need to be smoothed out...

Medium-sized focus factory that is great to start at!
Co-op (Former Employee), Creedmoor, NCJuly 15, 2015
Pros: Good size, Hands-on work, Great Entry Level Location
Cons: Long hours, Penny-pinching, Limited Advancement
Altec Industries (Creedmoor) produces various equipment for the utility and forestry industries (namely, bucket trucks or aerial devices). Creedmoor is unique in that they input raw materials and trucks and output custom-made bucket-trucks. Alot of production in-house with multiple techniques used, great learning and experimenting location for entry level.

Currently in modernization. Some management makes it feel like its my way or the high-way, not much room for vertical advancement, but plenty of room for horizontal moves (across departments).

Electrical Installer (Former Employee), Dixon, CAMay 21, 2015
Pros: Set schedule with lunches, breaks, end of work. Always potential for overtime.
Cons: Too many changes too quick that destroyed moral
This division of the company was going thru great changes and re-organization of management and work proceedures. It is a solid company to work for. They follow OSHA regulations and reward employees for bringing attention to potential problems. The production line went thru alot of organization and standard storage of tools and items. This made for completing jobs to go smoother. They have regular breaks and lunch hours. Lunch room has a food kiosk and lots of tables and microwaves and refridgerators for employees to use. Management is a hard one since there was a lot of changes in this area. Most co-workers were easy to get along with. Most were not shy to lend a helping hand where needed. The best part of the job was learning new ways to complete jobs and diagnosing electrical problems. There is nothing like fixing an issue that seemed unsolvable.

Long Hours
Engineer CO-OP (Former Employee), Daleville, VAMay 9, 2015
Pros: Great People
Cons: Long hours
The team at Altec has a lot of good people that really believe in a team spirit. We would have a meeting every Friday to discuss the business climate. However, every salary employee worked long hours. 60 hour weeks are a common load.

this place is poorly managed in all aspects. theres a "good ol boy" system. so if your friends with your supervisor your almost guaranteed to move up.
