Millwright (Former Employee) – Millwright – 17 December 2012
Not a trades union. Management is always looking to point a finger instead of working on solution. Very poor work culture all around. Low moral. If something doesn't change I don't see a future for the company. Steel making side of plant is very dirty and unhealthy area to work. Not enough money to work there.
benifits, in town, overtime is double time.
work environment, management, union protects the cancer, no chance at moving up or bettering oneself.
Former employee (Current Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 13 March 2016
Altasteel was a good place when it's was owned by Scaw metals. New overseas ownership (Australian owned Company) are extremely poor management businessman. There have been too many instances where accidents or incidents have occurred and not been reported due to fear of losing job. The company finds loopholes in the collective agreement to they're advantage, taking away O.T. from employees, allocating funds to front office staff To hire non essential employees. Employee moral is horrible due to poor management staff, union is not as active as they were years ago. Company is more interested in cosmetically looking good, then investing into actual safety issues brought up by a large amount of employees.
Stay away from a mismanaged company, Australia does not know nor care bout employees values, only production and to save funds for their own use, not keeping unionized bargaining employees happy.
Back stabbing union brotherhood, safety and constant machine issues
