The 3R’s Program has a 12 year history of early intervention and prevention within the west Edmonton community and continues to be a catalyst in the support and development of resources. The program started as a school based resiliency enhancing program, for at-risk students and has expanded into a building capacity for early year’s services and programs. The program aligns with important initiatives such as; the Early Intervention and Prevention Framework, OBSD (Outcome-Based Service Delivery) and the Community Based Service Delivery Model.

Job Duties

  • Will support the recruitment and development of community hubs
  • Will increase capacity of the community hubs to promote family access to resources in a timely manner
  • Will connect at-risk children and their families (as identified by Children’s Services worker) to community resources as a way of diverting the need for protection service
  • Will foster and nurture a culture of resiliency within community hubs and families
  • Will collect, collate and analyze outcome data and develop relevant action plans based upon the data
  • Will facilitate, and when required, lead psycho-educational groups that enhance parent and/or community hub capacity; public speaking
  • Will support family/young person in access to, and with, relevant resources including; referral and case advocacy
  • Will attend sector, interagency and other related meetings as required
  • Will support and if necessary coordinate related community gatherings and events such as; Lloyd’s Lymburn Legacy, Brown Bag Lunches and Early Years Continuum Project
  • Will liaise with service partners to ensure that programs and service delivery are coordinated with emerging needs.
  • Will maintain clear, comprehensive documentation and with a high standard of administration, including but not limited to; report writing, case management, promotional materials and outcome-based reporting.
  • Will have a strong understanding of governing acts and initiatives, CAC Standards and agencies policies and procedures.

Required Skills, Education and Experience

  • An education in a Human Services discipline
  • A knowledge and understanding of childhood development
  • Experience in community engagement
  • Other related experience
  • An ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
  • Excellent assessment, interviewing and referral skills
  • A strong capacity to communicate both in writing as well as, verbally
  • An ability to interact with people in a sensitive, diplomatic and professional manner
  • Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • A well maintained vehicle and cell phone
  • Twenty-one years of age or older
  • A clear Criminal Record Check and Child and Youth Intervention check.

Job Requirements

  • You are required to operate computers and other information technology
  • You will be interacting with other employees, management, related partnering organizations, children, families and community
  • You are required to do some light lifting and physical work
  • You will be community based/situated
  • Your scheduling requires some flexibility (occasional evening and weekend)
