As a result of our continuing growth, we require a seasoned Director of Operations.
This senior management role reports to the COO and is accountable for the overall direction, leadership and performance of our manufacturing plant. This individual manages the Manufacturing team. They oversee the production process to ensure that it follows plant procedures and meets customer service requirements and plant objectives. Key plant objectives will include COGS, Inventory Turns, On-Time Delivery, Quality and Health and Safety. The scope of this role will include management, personnel, safety, communications, quality and manufacturing engineering.
You will succeed in this role if you have a proven track record for successfully managing manufacturing operations, people and resources and can think and act strategically and you have a continuous improvement mindset . Your technical training and operational experience will stand you above other candidates.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Overall accountability for product manufacturing including meeting productivity and COGS targets, quality targets, department budget, inventory turn improvement (cycle time improvement and supply chain optimization), on-time delivery and health and safety
Oversee inventory control, major sub-contractor work (as needed), department loading and project assignments. Negotiate with key stakeholders to determine priorities and schedule equipment usage accordingly to meet customer commitments. Overall facility management including WCB, WHIMS and Health & Safety programs.
Provide leadership to departments such as purchasing and scheduling
Coach and develop staff to achieve solutions while working together to minimize cost and overhead
Work closely with Product Development to deliver new products to market on time and on budget
Build a high performing team that is always striving to be better at everything that we do
Exemplify continuous improvement in everyday practices (unrelenting pursuit of waste elimination)
