OVERVIEW: Alexandra Marine & General Hospital is now accepting applications for a Part-time Registered Nurse for Med/Surg/OB. The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the
patient, their family and the interdisciplinary team to ensure the best patient driven experience. The

patients with the emphasis on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance and restoration of

This position will consist of extended or innovative shifts as determined by the organization needs; the
organization reserves the right to schedule the line for 7.5 hours and/or combination of both extended
shifts and 7.5 hour shifts when necessary as determined by the organization. The incumbent must be
flexible in the ability to work a variety of shifts.


  • administration of Life Saving Drugs and I.V. Initiation
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • and intervention, BiPAP and CPAP
  • Basic Arrhythmia certification
  • certification
  • Code White certification
  • Computer literacy and Meditech knowledge and experience
  • Current competency in the following skills: I.V. Initiation, I.V. Medication Administration,
  • Delegated Medical Acts: Defibrillation, External Pacing, and Medical Directives for the
  • ECG’s and Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • Experience in the management of patient’s requiring the following: Epidural Catheter, Chest
  • Minimum of 2 years current medical/surgical related nursing experience
  • Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NRP) certification
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Paediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Tube, Arterial Line, Central Line, Mechanical Ventilation, Pain and Sedation assessment
  • Well-developed Patient Assessment, Planning Intervention and Evaluation Skills


  • Ability to be scheduled on an on-call roster
  • Ability to manage a variety of patient conditions
  • Ability to organize related activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations and
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and blended schedule
